Beautiful Stone House in Idyllic Village with Exclusive Pool and Fenced Garden
Les Figuiers is situated in a small hilltop village in the "golden triangle" vineyards area. The house has been restored to a very high standard with exposed beams and high ceilings. It offers all modern conveniences and an exclusive pool, and has also retained all of its original authentic character.
Holiday Accommodation at Les Figuiers (Smaller Parties up to six)
Please note that this is exatly the same gite as the "sleeps ten" accommodation, there is only one gite on site. The property is advertised additionally as a "sleeps six" purely for search engine purposes.
The house is arranged over 3 floors with a very large kitchen and double bedroom on the ground floor, each with French doors leading to the garden. There is also a walk in shower room, utility room and drying room. On the first floor there are 2 double bedrooms, a bath room with a bath and an ample lounge with 3 sofas, dvd/video player and open fireplace. On the top floor are 2 children's rooms with 2 single beds in each room.
The kitchen (40m²) is a charming room with it's old tiled floor and exposed stone walls. It overlooks the garden on the ground floor, and has two sets of French doors opening out onto a gravelled dining terrace by the pool. It has all modern amenities including a large Smeg oven with a six-ring gas hob, dishwasher, Smeg fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, a small drinks fridge, and a grand dining table with sufficient seating for 10 people. There are plenty of surfaces, storage, cooking equipment and cookery books to make it a very pleasant place to spend some of your holiday. Alternatively if you'd prefer to cook outside, there are 2 BBQs in the shed.
There is also a separate laundry room with a washing machine, ironing board, iron and hoover.
A double bedroom (20m²) on the ground floor also has French doors to the terrace, and still boasts a charming bread oven in one of the walls. There is also a chest of drawers and a wardrobe.
On the first floor (after entering the house up some very grand steps) there is the lounge (40m²). Set around the large romantic open fireplace, there are three large comfortable sofas with a television, dvd/video players, plus plenty of dvd's and videos for children and adults to watch. The room has a lovely wood floor, exposed stone and beams, and is very light with windows overlooking the pool and garden (and the original pigeonnier windows at the attic level). There is also broadband, a cd/tape player/radio, 2 docks for MP3 players, tapes/cds and plenty of books, games and magazines and information on the area.
Adjoining the lounge there is a double bedroom (23m²) with lots of original character, and plenty of clothes storage.
There is a further double bedroom on this floor (14m²) with a balcony rail overlooking the pool. Each of the double bedrooms have bedside tables and table lamps.
The bathroom on this floor has a tiled floor, WC, washbasin, and a full-size bath with stylish old taps.
Up on the mezzanine, there are two further children's bedrooms (each with two single beds). Although both the beds and rooms are big enough for adults, they are interconnecting and provide a perfect dormitory.
The garden and pool are both fenced and surrounded by bushes with parking for 2 cars. There are also tennis rackets, plenty of garden chairs and umbrellas, paddling pool, outdoor table tennis table and other garden games. The pool is 5 by 10 meters with Roman Steps at one end, and it has a protective cover which is required by law in France. It is surrounded by a paved terrace and is fenced in with a gate. There are sun loungers, deck chairs and pool toys.
Our gardener will attend to the pool, show you how to remove the cover and maintain the garden as necessary whilst you are there.
As we have small children the house is well-equipped for young children and has two cots, high chair, changing mat, potty, toys and books.
The house also has central heating, and is therefore ideal for all weather.
About Itzac in Tarn, Midi Pyrenees
The house is located in a peaceful hilltop village on the edge of one of France's best known vineyard areas, that being Gaillac. While the immediate locality is tranquil and relaxing, a short drive will bring you to many other places of interest.
The Tarn is a beautiful and unspoilt region, where the relaxed style and pace of life can almost take you back in time. It is blessed with natural oak forests, rivers, gorges, valleys, rolling hills, architectural masterpieces, and an abundance of flora and fauna. Even the Mediterranean and the Pyrénées are within reach for day trips.
Les Figuiers is within 20 minutes drive of Saint Antonin Noble Val, a beautiful medieval town which, as well as being visually stunning, is also a fascinating place to explore. On a practical level, it has a bustling Sunday food market as well as bars and restaurants, two small supermarkets, a bank, post office, pharmacies, art galleries, and even a cinema with regular English films. As you would expect, it also has excellent boulangeries and patisseries.
Most nearby villages and towns also boast open air markets with an abundance of just about every kind of fresh local produce - including wine of course. Some of the regular seasonal village fêtes and fairs are a treat too.
Cordes-sur-Ciel (10 mins drive) is a breathtaking 13th Century bastide. For those with a pioneering spirit, a walk to the very top is well worth the effort for the views alone, as well as the selection of shops, galleries and fine restaurants which will greet you there.
Gaillac (15 mins drive) is one of the oldest and most famous wine growing regions in France. The huge variety of wines from the area should please all tastes, and it is a fascinating area to explore (and to indulge in wine-tasting).
Albi (25 mins drive) is the birthplace of the famous artist Toulouse-Lautrec, and with a superb museum holding hundreds of his works. Sainte Cecile Cathedral is a dominating architectural highlight. The town centre is a lovely place to spend a day in the cafes and restaurants.
Toulouse (45 mins drive) or "La Ville Rose" is the 4th largest city in France with many historically important buildings, art galleries, two splendid cathedrals, and the museum of contemporary art, Les Abatoirs. There is also the Space Museum at the huge Cite de l'Espace.

How To Get To Itzac in Tarn, South West France
There are three airports located within reach of Les Figuiers – these are Toulouse, Carcassonne and Rodez and you can fly there with Ryanair, British Airways, Air France and EasyJet. Each one is about a 90 minute flight from Gatwick or Stansted. Car hire is readily available at each airport.
Alternatively you can drive from the UK which takes about 11 hours from Calais. There are a number of routes you could take, but we would recommend heading south from Paris towards Caussade on the A20 motorway. Should you wish to break up your journey, we can recommend some hotels along the way.
