Lovely 18th Century Self Catering Farm Cottage. Sleeps max.4 in 1 bedroom and 1 studio. Exclusive use of pool.

Peaceful, very well-equipped and spacious 18th century farm cottage, located in extensive grounds, with exclusive use of a Roman style swimming pool. One double bedroom and 1 separate Studio plus 2 cots. Close to the ancient bishopric of Périgueux and the medieval market towns of St. Astier and Vergt. Within easy driving distance of wine tasting, excellent supermarkets, many historic sites and chateaux, canoeing, horse riding, cycling and restaurants

Holiday Accommodation at Le Cérisier

Peaceful, very well-equipped, comfortable old stone cottage. Sleeps 2 to 4 in one double bedroom and the Studio, plus 2 cots Exclusive use of pool and grounds. The property comprises:

  • Exclusive use of pool and grounds as owners work abroad and are mostly absent. The pool is only ever being used by one single party and is open between May and end of October.
  • Comfortable queen-sized bed in first-floor bedroom.
  • Bed linen and bathroom towels included in the price.
  • Pool towels available. Please ask the owner.
  • 2 cots, 2 high chairs. Playpen available.
  • Very spacious shower room with bathroom cabinet and WC.
  • Fully equipped Studio with kitchen/dining area, with 1 double sofa bed or 2 single sofa beds. 
  • Fast internet access, telephone and British TV. DVD and CD players.
  • Access to Multigym available. Please ask the owner.
  • Electric heaters available. Please ask the owner.
  • Barbecue on terrace.
  • Washing machine in the house, access to tumble drier in the garage.
  • Very private, sunny, quiet terrace seating area!

About St Paul De Serre in Dordogne, Aquitaine

'Le Cérisier' is situated close to the ancient cities of Perigueux and Bergerac as well as the medieval town of Vergt, the "capitale des fraises" of the region - the 'strawberry capital'! It takes 10 min by car to go shopping at our new SUPER U supermarket (on the N 21, can't be missed) and 12 minutes by car to go to Vergt where you will find the excellent Intermarche supermarket, a very good bakery (which does deliveries), pharmacies, newspaper shops and a health centre. Our local restaurant, 'Le Rossignol', caters for locals and tourists alike and serves excellent and plentiful "cuisine bourgeoise" meals. It is at 5 min drive from the house close to the N 21 and has a very pleasant, enclosed courtyard! In the nearby market town of Manzac-sur-Vern, the 4-star-restaurant 'Le Lion d'Or' offers a very high quality menu at reasonable prices and is well worth a visit. Please book in advance! 

The famous Pécharmant wine region is at 10 minutes drive where you may wish to sample the characteristic reds of our area. The delicious dessert wine Monbazillac can be tried close to Bergerac, at the chateau of the same name! Take advantage of your visit and book a trip on a typical "gabarre" down the wide Dordogne river.

Perigueux is 15 minutes by car from the gite and a must for visitors of the Périgord. Book a guided tour through the Roman City (information available at the house) as well as the Cité Médievale, have lunch at one of the many charming, small restaurants in one of the medieval squares, enjoy the warmth and the relaxation of this beautiful, ancient bishopric.

The Dordogne area is famous for recreational activities, such as canoing, horse riding, bicycle riding etc., all within easy driving distance from "Le Cérisier".

How To Get To St Paul De Serre in Dordogne, South West France

Airports you may wish to fly to:

  • Bergerac airport, at 30 minutes, with car hire (Hertz, Avis, Europcar) and plentiful parking. Taxis available.
  • Limoges airport, at 1 h 30 min by car.
  • Bassilac airport, near Perigueux, for flights from and to Paris.

Both Perigueux and Bergerac have excellent train connections.

The road network of motorways and Routes Nationales as well as Routes Departementales in France are maintained to the highest standard. 'Le Cérisier' is easily found following the Autoroute 89 and, then the Route Nationale 21.

The main entrance to "Le Cérisier" is from the terrace to the Studio which houses the kitchen/dining area and a double sofa bed, optionally 2 separate sofa beds. On leaving the Studio you ascend the attractive chestnut staircase to the spacious landing with a roof window, seating area and TV/DVD. On the landing  there is a supplementary sofa bed and 1 cot. From the landing you access the carpeted bedroom with a queen-sized double bed, another cot and two windows. Next to the bedroom is the all white, modern, large bathroom with separate shower cabinet, WC, bathroom cabinet and window to the grounds.

Bed linen included in the price. Two bathroom towels per person are included in the price, pool towels can be hired. 

Optional final cleaning service for £29.00 (see "Le Cérisier" booking form) recommended, as final cleaning is comprehensive and entails washing of floors, careful cleaning of bathroom and kitchen, hoovering of bedroom etc., in readiness for the guests following!

Electric oil heaters are supplied during the months of November to February and are included in the price. Electric heaters are available for a small charge from March to October.

If you wish to use the tumble dryer please ask the owner.
