Historic Perigordian Farm with Heated Saline Swimming Pool, Wifi & Satellite TV

Our 200 year old Perigordian farm set in 3 acres, sits on a hilltop overlooking the Dordogne countryside and is so peaceful you can almost hear the grass grow!

It benefits from a heated saline swimming pool (12 x 5 m) that is fenced and secure for children. A washing machine and tumble drier are available on site and WiFi is available in the property.

Linen and cleaning are provided in the price.

Holiday Accommodation at Les Ronces

Les Ronces is an intimate and romantic apartment ideally suited to couples, providing:

  • Two outside spaces with a west facing terrace that has comfortable patio furniture to sit and enjoy the spectacular sunsets. Shade is provided nearby by a mature pear tree.
  • The heated saline swimming pool is 12 x 5 meters
  • The spacious open plan lounge, kitchen/diner forms one section of the 'L' and opens off the terrace at one end whilst the other end provides access to a shady private courtyard, the perfect place for a relaxed breakfast.. Inside there is a library of books and games.
  • The modern kitchen area is equipped with fridge, dishwasher, ceramic hob and combination microwave/convection oven and grill.
  • The dining table will seat 4 and the lounge area is comfortably furnished.
  • The second section of the 'L' contains a separate double bedroom with a large walk in "wet room" shower en suite. Both rooms have windows onto the private courtyard, converted from the original stable doors.
  • There is access to a washing machine and tumble drier on site.
  • Linen and cleaning are included in the price.

About Monpazier in Dordogne, Aquitaine

Les Charmes lies between the Bastide towns of Monpazier (plus beaux villages de France) and Beaumont approximately 35 kms south of Bergerac airport. Two other nearby Bastides are well worth a visit: Villereal which has a large supermarkets on the edge of the town and Issigeac which has an excellent Sunday morning market.

Bergerac is the nearest large town with a hypermarket (E.Leclercs), not far from the airport, and is a good place to stock up on arrival.

If you need a break from relaxing by the pool, then there are always long walks in the country side around the property, cycling (bikes can be hired in the nearby town of Monpazier), horse-riding is available close to Beaumont, you can go canoing on the Dordogne or fishing in the many local rivers – a “carte de peche de tourisme” is valid for two weeks and can be purchased from the local hardware shop in Beaumont.

Les Charmes is a rural property and you will have to drive to the shops, there is however one restaurant that can be reached on foot, Les Peyrouliers which is about 1.5 kms away. The nearest shops are in Monpazier, about 7kms away, though the nearest supermarkets are to be found in Villereal and Beaumont, both of which are about 10kms away.

The Bastide towns each have a weekly market, excellent for fresh produce, with an especially good one at Issigeac on a Sunday morning with a much wider range of goods and local crafts. During the summer season there are weekly night markets, which are great places to eat – but be there early before all the tables are filled!!

There are many good restaurants within a 12km radius, providing for a wide range of tastes and budgets. Most of these provide set menus and are especially good value at lunch time. Further details on local restaurants are available in the information packs at the properties.

How To Get To Monpazier in Dordogne, South West France

From the channel port of Calais it is about an 8 hour drive, with motorway all the way, via Paris, to Sarlat leaving around 60 kms of local roads. Alternatively if you sail into Caen you can drive down the west coast motorways of France to Bordeaux and then across to Bergerac on the D396, which should cut the driving time down to around 7 hours.

Bergerac airport is about 30 minutes drive away from Les Charmes and is well served by:

  • Ryan Air from Stanstead, Liverpool, Bristol and East Midland airports.
  • Flybe from London Gatwick, Southampton, Leeds/Bradford, Exeter, Edinburgh and Birmingham.
  • Both Ryan Air and Flybe have car hire partners attached via their websites, though in our experience holiday autos are always cheaper and hassle free. But beware you must book in advance as you will not be able to pick up a car without and you will need both parts of your UK Driver’s license.
  • British Airways sometimes have good deals available, and fly into Bordeaux from London Gatwick, Les Charmes is about a 1.5 hour drive from Bordeaux airport.

This is only available during the summer with trains from Calais to Brive, which is about 1.5 hours drive away. More information can be found on their website
