Our self catering accommodation has outstanding views of the Pyrénées and is set in 30 acres of rolling pasture and woodland. Chemicals have not been used here for at least 8 years and flora and flora abounds. A must for anyone who has an interest in any branch of natural history. Want to be at one with nature?

Holiday Accommodation at La Porcherie

This self catering accommodation comprises:

• Character interior displaying the original oak frame.
• Versatile twin bedroom with bedside table, chest of drawers and built in wardrobe.
• Shower room, shower with massage jets, WC and wash hand basin.
• There is a large cupboard in the hall which contains all the services and domestic equipment and has space for suitcases and outdoor clothing.
• The main room is a living room with L-shaped full size kitchen equipped with quality appliances.
• In the dining area there is a dining table and 4 chairs, a full size sofa bed and a powerful wood burning fire.
• Outside there is a brick pavier terrace facing south and a large wooden deck facing north. Both are for the sole use of the gite.
• The 8.5m x 4.5m heated swimming pool is again sole use and is very private!

About Mondilhan in Haute-Garonne, Midi Pyrenees

• Eating out: there are plenty of places around to eat to suit all tastes (this is France after all). The closest of which is the Auberge Champetre and a very short drive or a good stretch of the legs.  Specialises in charcoal grilled meats, they also have a number of theme nights and entertainment during the summer months.
• Boulogne sur Gesse: is our closest town about 5km away, and is a typical example of a French country town with its arched market square in the centre of town where a small market is held on Wednesday mornings. It has 2 supermarkets, 2 pharmacies, 3 boulongeries/pattiseries where you can choose from a vast array of breads and cakes, Post Office, Banks, hairdressers, cafes and bar, tabac, newsagents etc. There is also a large leisure lake with leisure facilities. Various activities and events are organised during the summer and in particular there is a firework display with synchronised music in August.
• L’Isle-en-Dodon: is about 13km away and is a bastide town which, like Boulogne sur Gesse has yet to succumb to all the pressures of modern life.
• Samatan: market is an absolute must see and is a 20 min drive. Every Monday morning the town fills with market stalls selling everything you can think of (and a lot more besides). It is the best market for miles around and is particularly noted for its foie gras (a local speciality).
• Lombez: is just before Samatan and has a Cathedral and Leisure Centre Water Park with water chutes, pedoloes, canoes, beach and parkland.
• Aurignac: is a lovely village with a roman castle ruin with 360 degree views, Museum and is a 15 minute picturesque drive.
• The Gorges de la Save: for walks, picnics and rock climbing is a 15 minute drive away – or you could cycle.
• The Grotte de gargas: prehistoric caves with fantastic hand paintings (45 minutes drive).
• Marciac: is also 40 minutes away and is famous for its Jazz Festival in August.
• Toulouse: is about 1 hour drive and is a city well worth a visit with its 15th century cobbled streets, shops and cafes, museums, art galleries, botanical garden, cruises on the Canal due Midi.
• St Betrand du comminges: is a 50 minute drive, stop off on your way to the Pyrenees or Spain and visit the picturesque medieval village with magnificent cathedral perched high above a valley in the foothills of the Pyrenees.
• The Pyrenees: are just over an hours drive and well worth a visit at any time of year. Take in the breathtaking views and in the winter why not have a go at skiing or snow boarding at Superbagneres – an experience we can thoroughly recommend. Stop at Luchon and take a cable car ride up to the slopes.
• Spain: is only just over an hour away – take a drive through beautiful scenery over the border and enjoy all that Spain has to offer in the way of great views, good value shopping, wine and spirits.
• If you fancy a trip to the coast it is about 2 hours 40 minutes to either the Atlantic or Mediterranean coast.
