A lovely old stone house in one of the most picturesque villages in France, luxury modernised accommodation with open plan living areas, private swimming pool and private garden.

   

Holiday Accommodation at Old Stone House in Picturesque Village

A lovely old stone house, renovated to a high standard in 2008 revealing original features combined with modern facilities. The property is fully renovated on the upper level only. Access to the entrance is via old stone steps to a glass balcony and seating area. The accommodation comprises:

  • Three bedrooms, one double with en-suite, a further double and a twinned bedded room, leads up to an open plan living area with modern kitchen, dining area with oak table and chairs and sofas seated around a large stone fireplace with wood burning stove.
  • A second balcony with shower room, from which the garden is accessed via stone steps to the rear.
  • The outside provides an old stone walnut store which is used as a covered eating area with teak table and chairs. A stone laid patio with sun-loungers leading to the swimming pool at the rear of the garden.
  • The garden is in an elevated position with fruit trees and flowers and sloping grassed areas. 
  • Parking for two cars at the front of house.

About Carennac in Lot, Midi Pyrenees

The property is situated in the beautiful picturesque village of Carennac, one of the 'Beaux Villages de France' on the banks of the river Dordogne.

A popular tourist village where visitors come to see the ancient Abbey and Cloisters, and to explore the old village. The village has a local shop which is a depot du pain, several bars, restaurants and a tourist office in the courtyard of the abbey. In the summer months a farmers market is held one evening a week in the garden of the abbey.

The general area provides a wealth of activities and many beautiful villages and historic and tourist sites and interesting towns.

How To Get To Carennac in Lot, South West France

  • From Calais a driving time of approx 8hrs to the property.
  • Rail travel using Euro star, TGV and TER to Brive a La Gaillard, car hire available at the station should be pre booked.
  • Recent opening of the Brive a La Gaillard airport in 2010 has more flights available this year from London City Airport (Air France) car hire available.
  • Transfer time to the house from Brive Station approx  40 mins.
  • Transfer time from the airport at Brive 30 mins.
  • Flights to Bergerac, Rodez and Limoges  require a transfer time of approx 2 hrs.

We had a very pleasant stay in this charming medieval village of Caranac. The property was a rustic delight overlooking the Abbey. We would highly recommend this to all if you are looking for a relaxing and quiet holiday. Difficult to put in to words - try it, you won't be disappointed.
