Tranquil Villa with Private Pool and Large Garden

Named after the nesting swallows that return each year, our tranquil villa is set in the village of Le Peyrat, near the market town of Mirepoix in the Ariege. With a private pool, large, secure garden and views of the Pyrenees it is a haven of rest and relaxation. It is also the ideal base for exploring this beautiful, traditional, unspoilt region of France or for taking in some skiing at the nearby resorts of Mont d'Olmes and Axe-les-Thermes.

Relax and unwind on the terrace or enjoy a long lie-in while the children use their own indoor games area or outdoor playground in safety. Why not stay an extra week? With Wi-fi and free European landline calls available, even the most 'in demand' business people can get away from it all for a little while longer....

Holiday Accommodation at Les Hirondelles

The property sleeps 10 guests comfortably.

We can provide up to 3 extra bed spaces at a cost of €50/person/week.These are provided as follows:

A single bed added to Bedroom 2, ground floor, making it a triple room. Cost €50/week.

A double sofa bed in the lounge. Cost €50/person/week.

The property has an 8x4m alarmed pool. Sun loungers, parasols and pool towels are provided along with a BBQ. The 1 acre garden is securely fenced with electric gates and intercom system.

Children have a large outdoor play area and football goal. There is plenty of space to play safely. Indoors they have their own games area with a TV/DVD player, board games, jigsaws, children's DVDs and books. For younger children we have a travel cot with mattress (no bedding) and a highchair available and we can put a stairgate at the top and bottom of the stairs.

The lounge has reclining sofas, a large flat screen TV with SKY, DVD player, radio/CD player and a selection of DVDs and books. Wireless broadband and free calls to European landlines are also available.

The open plan nature of the villa allows large parties to eat together - the dining table extends to seat 12, the kitchen seats 6 and the veranda, 8 - and there is a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer.

Main rooms are air conditioned with fans in the bedrooms. Electric radiators and wood for the fire are included in the price of winter and low season lets. One well behaved pet is welcome with prior agreement. Smoking is prohibited in the villa but you are welcome to smoke outside on the veranda.

The ground floor of the villa can be accessed by those with limited mobility. The ground floor shower has a fold down seat but the toilets and showers are not suitable for wheelchair transfers due to lack of space and grab rails. Guests with limited mobility should also note that while the staircase to the first floor is enclosed by walls it does not have a hand rail.

About Le Peyrat in Ariège, Midi Pyrenees

Le Peyrat is a quiet, friendly village with access to commerces in the adjoining village of La Bastide sur l'Hers. There you can find a bakery, butcher, hairdresser, 2 grocery shops, bar and restaurant as well as children's park and tennis court. Just 10 minutes from Lac Montbel, it's the perfect setting to enjoy the lake's beaches and watersports such as pedalos, sailing and canoeing. A safe public path runs behind the house allowing easy access to 38km of walking and cycling.

The nearby ski resorts of Mont d'Olmes and Axe 3 Domaines offer great family skiing in winter and plenty of summer activities like mountain biking, climbing, hiking and children's adventure zones. Go-karting, paintball and horse riding are available locally along with many other attractions. Two superb golf courses - the Golf Club de l'Ariege and the international standard Golf de Carcassonne can both be found within an hour's drive. 90 minutes takes you to the mediterranean beaches at Narbonne or even toToulouse for a city day out. Why not visit the medieval world heritage site of Carcassonne, climb to the chateau of Montsegur or follow the Cathar trail? Take in the many local museums, animal parks and grottos or just have a lazy day by the pool followed by a stroll to the weekly night market or local restaurant, only a 10 minute walk away.

How To Get To Le Peyrat in Ariège, South West France

The nearest airport is Carcassonne, now used exclusively by Ryanair and offering flights from Dublin, Prestwick, Liverpoool, East Midlands and Stansted.

Perpignan, Toulouse and Beziers are 80-120km away but have a good choice of budget airlines such as Ryanair, Easyjet, Jet2 and Flybe as well as scheduled operators such as Aer Lingus, British Airways and Air France. Sometimes a good deal can be had slightly further afield at the airports of Beziers, Pau, Lourdes or even Girona or Barcelona.

Car hire is readily available at Carcassonne and Toulouse airports and the property can be reached via the D119 (through Montreal and Mirepoix) from Carcassone or the A61-A66-D119 (via Pamiers and Mirepoix) from Toulouse.

Additional price information

The villa sleeps 10 people comfortably.

Extra bed spaces are charged at the rate of €50/person/week.

A travel cot and highchair can be available - please advise us if you require them. There is no charge for these items but we do ask guests to bring their own cot linen.

Alternative changeover days can be arranged subject to availability and we often offer special rates or discounts for smaller groups - please call to discuss.

Checkout time is 10-10:30 with arrivals from 5-7pm. Later arrivals can be arranged if required - please advise us of your needs.

A security deposit of €300 is payable on booking and refundable at the end of your stay after inspection of the property and subject to our cancellation policy. If you are bringing a pet then, due to previous experience, we ask for a deposit of €400. The full price of your holiday is payable 6 weeks prior to your start date.

Guests are asked to leave the villa clean and tidy, as found on their arrival. Any extra cleaning requirements (other than linen) will be estimated on inspection and deducted from the security deposit at the rate of €25/hour required.
