Charming Stone Cottages in the Loire Valley, France

Les Trois Petites Maisons consists of three charming stone built cottages in the south Loire Valley named after our three daughters, Isabelle, Eleanor and Megan. Only two of the cottages (Eleanor and Isabelle) are available for rental with the third being kept as the owners (the owners cottage is never occupied during your stay). The two cottages are ideal for larger families or for a couple of families holidaying together and can be rented individually or together.

Les Trois Petites Maisons sits on over 2700 sq metres of land and has a large garden to the rear of the properties which enjoys panoramic views of the rolling countryside. The garden has a 16ft trampoline and a private large 8m x 4m in ground swimming pool. The pool area is alarmed and fenced and is the ideal place to lay back and soak up the sunshine whilst looking at the stunning views.

Our gites are child and baby friendly with proper cots, high chairs, baby baths, stair gates and strollers provided. Each gite also has a travel cot which can be taken outside, into the shade of the hanger, so that babies can have a nap during the day whilst you can continue to enjoy the pool and garden.

Attached to the back of the cottages is a large open sided barn where you can relax after a hard day in the pool and enjoy a BBQ.

The cottages themselves are built of local stone and do an excellent job of keeping the interior cool in the Summer and warm in the Winter. Both cottages have retained many original features such as wooden beams and exposed stone walls. In cottage Isabelle, there is an original bread oven and stone sink which we believe served the community many years ago.

The cottages are situated in the small hamlet of Cercay which is a 2 minute drive from the nearest town Ligueil. The picturesque town of Ligueil has all the amenities you will need during your stay such as patisseries, tabacs, pharmacy, supermarket, bars and restaurants and even has a market held on Mondays.

Whilst smoking is not permitted inside the property, you are more than welcome to smoke in the grounds but please do not leave any litter.

The garden is pet friendly and pets are welcome by prior arrangement with the owners.

Holiday Accommodation at Gite Eleanor

Eleanor is a three bedroomed cottage (two double bedrooms and one twin bedroom) which sleeps six people plus cot. This barn conversion maintains many original features including wooden beams and exposed stone walls.

The accommodation consists of:

Ground Floor

An open plan downstairs with lounge, large dining area and kitchen

• To the back is a washroom with toilet, shower and wash basin.
• The lounge area has a large comfortable sofa and two arm chairs, TV with games console (with a selection of games) and DVD player (with a selection of DVD's).
• The dining area has a large extendable table with six chairs. Little ones are also catered for with a stair gate, high chair and travel cot.
• The kitchen is fully equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, oven, microwave, fridge freezer, kettle and toaster, all utensils, pots and pans and plenty of crockery, glasses and cutlery. Also available is a large clothes dryer, ironing board & iron.

WIFI is available throughout the cottage with limited access outside.

First Floor

• Upstairs is the main bathroom with toilet, shower and wash basin,
• The master bedroom,
• A double bedroom
• A twin bedroom.

Swimming Pool

The 8m x 4m in ground swimming pool is fenced with a latched gate and pool alarm to protect young children. The pool enjoys the sun all day long with shade being provided by two large sails. There are plenty of sun loungers available with additional patio chairs if required. A bubble cover is also provided which if used each evening will maintain the pool temperature overnight. Fantastic views across miles of open countryside can be enjoyed in and around the pool area.

The Hanger

The hanger is a large open sided barn area and is a perfect place to enjoy meals and BBQ's. Outdoor electricity points are available for you to listen to music. The hanger enjoys shade throughout the day and is an ideal place to cool off. Because it is next to both the pool and the trampoline, it is an ideal place to monitor children. At night, because there is no light pollution, the hanger is the ideal place to enjoy a fantastic night sky. You won't believe how many stars you can see - even the spiral arm of the galaxy is visible on a clear night.

The Courtyard

There is a large gravelled courtyard that runs along the front of the cottages. Outside of each gite is a set of table and chairs for you to enjoy croissants & pain au chocolats in the morning sunshine. The gites are separated by a gated alleyway that leads to the rear garden and for added privacy we have installed a fence between the two gites. Through the wooden gates at the end of the courtyard is ample space to park several cars.

About Ligueil in Indre-et-Loire, Loire Valley

The gites are only two minutes drive away from the town of Ligueil (pronounced Li-goi). Although Ligueil is a small town it has all the facilities you need for an enjoyable holiday including patisseries, bars, restaurants, a butcher, doctors, dentists, banks and a pharmacy to name but a few. Ligueil also has its own supermarket (Simply) which stocks pretty much everything thing you will need. There is even a market held every Monday.

For bigger supermarkets you can travel to St-Maure-de-Touaine where you will find a large Intermarché or head towards Loches for Super U or E.Leclerc.

How To Get To Ligueil in Indre-et-Loire, Central France

Les Trois Petites Maisons is situated in the small hamlet of Cercay just outside of Ligueil. If you need any help in finding us then please do not hesitate to contact us. 

By Road

Cercay is approximately 20 minutes away from the Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine exit of the A10 motorway. Approximate travel time from the Euro-tunnel / Calais is 5 hours 30 minutes.

If you have a GPS simply search for Cercay or use the coordinates Latitude: 47.057689, Longitude: 0.825289

If you don't have a GPS then simply use the A16 from the Euro-tunnel and follow signs to Rouen. From Rouen, follow signs to Le Mans, then Tours. After Tours you will need to take the Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine exit of the A10 and head towards Ligueil.

If you use Google Maps to plan your journey, make sure that it does not take you around Paris as this will add a considerable amount of time to your journey.

By Air

The nearest airports are Tours (about an hour away) and Poitiers (about an hour and 15 minutes away).

Cars can be hired from both airports.
