3 Bel Air consists of two adjacent houses, an 18th Century Girondine Style Stone farmhouse and an adjacent, recently renovated barn - La Petite Maison. La Petite Maison has two double bedrooms and easily accommodates four people.

Holiday Accommodation at La Petite Maison

Wonderful, fully equipped two bedroom gite with vineyard views in the heart of the Bordeaux wine region.

The entrance to La Petite Maison opens onto its own South facing terrace with barbeque and small pool, of which guests have exclusive use.

Accommodation includes:

Downstairs

Off the large downstairs entrance area there are:

• Two double bedrooms with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space.
• A generous shower room
• Large storage area with water-heater and washing machine.

Upstairs

• A lofty and sunny open plan room (40m2) with a comfortable sofa area with Satellite TV, DVD and videos and views to the surrounding vines. There is a stack of videos provided if required.
• A fully equipped kitchen area with a gas hob, electric oven and large fridge-freezer. It is fully equipped with all the cooking equipment you may require. The adjacent dining area has a large table.

About Anglade in Gironde, Aquitaine

The Village of Anglade

The property is in a hamlet of 5 houses, near the village of Anglade. The village is just less than a 1 km walk. There is a supermarket and boulangerie in Anglade as well as a restaurant/bar open 12-2pm, Monday to Saturday. There is also a post office and mairie. Just outside the village is the local wine "cave" or co-operative which serves all the local grape-farmers. It sells wine by the bottle and also offers the local "vin de table" or "premier cru" by the tap (you have to take your own plastic bottle!).

Wine

There are plenty of Chateaux in Anglade and the local area which produce Blaye, Cotes de Bordeaux wine. There is information available to plan your wine-tasting tour.

Markets

There is a fantastic food (and some clothes/ jewellery etc) market in Blaye (8km) on Wednesday and Saturday mornings (8-12 am). St Ciers sur Gironde (15km) has a smaller food market on Sunday mornings. Both are all year round. Sunday mornings see local Oyster stalls close to the house.

Port de Callonges

Close to St Ciers sur Gironde, North of Anglade is a large marsh land and nature reserve. Within this, on the river is the Port de Callonges, a small harbour with a nature walk and high-point views. There is an arts and crafts shop with a coffee bar open all year. There are also two restaurant/ bars. There are also magnificent views along the Gironde River and its iconic prawn nets.

There is a tourist boat that heads out from here linking North of the river to Royan and South to Blaye and Bourg sur Gironde.

Moulin Blanc Bathing Lake

There is a very popular fresh water bathing lake about a 15 minute drive away. This has a beach area, lots of walking in the pine trees and a lakeside restaurant and bar. In the summer months has a lifeguard on site.

The towns of Blaye and Bourg sur Gironde

The two towns of Blaye (8km) and Bourg sur Gironde (20km) are definitely worth exploring. Blaye is dominated by its large 17th Century listed river citadel with its aoriginal Roman street insdie. There is a tourist information, galleries, a brocante and bars and restaurants inside aswell as an hotel with a very good restaurant and bar. The town itself has plenty of shops, restaurants and bars aswell as a fantastic food market.

Slightly further away is a very different, slight more gentile citadel town of Bourg sur Gironde, with high views over the river. It also has shops and places to eat and drink near its port.

Aquitaine and Day Trips

There is plenty to see and do a little bit further afield. Bordeaux is 40 minutes by car. Slightly further North (70 km) is the beach city of Royan. On the way to Royan you pass the smaller, calmer beaches of St Georges de Didonne and Meschers sur Gironde, at the river's estuary. The small citadel town of Talmond sur Gironde is also worth a visit.

Over the river by ferry from Blaye is the Medoc region with its famous labels and the beaches of Lacanau and Hourtin. South past Bordeaux is Arcachon beach resort with the Pyla sand dune, the largest in europe.

How To Get To Anglade in Gironde, South West France

The property is appromiately 65 km from the airport of Bordeaux, between exit 38 and 39 of the A1 Autoroute. There are intercity trains that run to Bordeaux. La Rochelle (airport) and Biarritz (airport) can link to the city of Bordeaux.
