15th Century

Set in the heart of this typical Charentais village, Le Logis stands amongst beautiful natural gardens and mature trees and includes a shared swimming pool. The entrance porch, flanked by its 2 XV Century towers and its surrounding wall are Grade II listed buildings. The "Logis des Tours" was the summer residence of the Bishops of Poitiers in the XV and XVI centuries.

Self Catering Gites

Two listed adjacent 16th Century Farmhouses on the private walled estate of the Logis des Tours. Each Cottage sleeps 6 + cot. All linen provided.

Stone walls, beams, inglenook fireplaces and original stencil painting together with vaulted bathroom are some of the very quaint features of these properties. In the heart of this Charentais village in 2 acres of mature gardens each gite offers security and privacy.

• Bedroom 3 2 bunk beds, chest of drawers and hanging cupboard. Window looking out on back patio.
• Separate WC and shower room on bedroom level
• Sitting room/dining room Large spacious with fully equipped corner kitchen. Dining table bench and chairs all in Charentais style. Doors leading onto front and back patio.

• Back patio very private and colourful with climbing plants and various pot plants.
• Garden furniture.

Both properties have sufficient crockery and cooking utensils for 12, also iron, ironing board, pegs and clothes line. Baby sitting facilities.

About Villefagnan in Charente, Poitou Charentes

The Charente's Sunniest region in the west of France; with meandering rivers, offers its rich romanistique heritage, its famous distilleries in Cognac, the well known Futuroscope in Poitiers, and its peaceful coastline, dominated by La Rochelle.

It is only 50 minutes from Poitiers and 2 hours to La Rochelle and Limoges. The towns of Cognac and Angouleme are only 30 minutes away. 

Villefagnan is known in SW France for its "organic farming" and has the only working windmill in the country. There is a market twice a week.

It is located a 10 mins drive from Ruffec, a town which has a main station, on the "N10 road from Poitiers.

Le "Logis De Tours Villefagnan" village surrounded by organic farming land (1100inhabitants), next to a restaurant and near all the shops and market.

The coast is 1h30mns away to La Rochelle.

Other attractions include

• Monkey Zoo (40 minutes drive) excellent park, well worth a visit
• Nautilis, a large swimming complex with waves and slides near a very large lake (25 minutes drive) near Angouleme
• River bathing (with beach, 10 minute drive)
• Walking and lots of picnic areas
• Many pretty surrounding villages dating back to medieval history.

How To Get To Villefagnan in Charente, South West France

The village is 10 minutes away from the TGV at Ruffec. (London-Lille-Paris-Poitiers-Angouleme- Bordeaux) and 10 minutes from the N10 dual carriageway between Poitiers and Angouleme.

Road: From any port in France make your way to Poitiers. Follow the N10. Drive for 50 minutes and take the Ruffec exit and follow signs for Villefagnan.
Rail: London Waterloo station Eurostar direct to Lille. From Lille direct TGV to Poitiers or Angouleme. Car rental can be arranged from either station with a reduction if booked via the owner.
Air: Fly ryan air  regular cheap flights from Stanstead to Poitiers and Angouleme.
