Ecological Domaine with Breathtaking Panoramic Views

Bergerie les Crozes is an ecological domain with breathtaking panoramic views and has been named after the valley in which it is situated. The resort is reached via an unpaved and seldom used mountain path (ca 2.5 km/1.5 mi in length). It is a private 100 ha. estate in the “zone verte” (green zone), a national park.

The bushes and trees growing on the scene are holm oak, oaks and conifers typical of the region. The house lies sheltered in the central part of the valley in a gorgeous natural setting where you can enjoy a magnificent view from one of the many terraces.

Holiday Accommodation at Pond House

The ‘Pond House’ is a single storey dwelling with an area of 90 m2 (960 sq ft) that accommodates 4 to 6 people. Accommodation comprises:

  • An open living and dining room with
  • An integrated kitchen
  • Two bedrooms, one with a large double bed, one with two single beds.
  • Two bathrooms, including a toilet, shower and wash basin.

The fire place tempts one to gather cheerfully around it and can be used both open and closed. Wood is available.

The kitchen which is integrated in the living room is fully equipped. If you would like to use the house for 6 persons, a comfortable sofa bed is available in the living room.

Satellite TV, a stereo system and internet connection are also at your disposal. You will also find many other ordinary, yet useful, objects such as a vacuum cleaner and an iron.

Natural materials such as natural stone and plenty of wood, also in the bathrooms, provide the guest rooms with a warm atmosphere.

The bedrooms continue the main themes of the house: walls of natural stone adjoining walls painted in harmonious pastels and earth tones. The wooden floor has been treated with water-based natural oil. The house's wooden support beams are visible and glass panes have been place above some of the doors. Much attention has been paid to details to create a comfortable and aesthetic atmosphere. No detail has been forgotten.

Ample bedding is available for your comfort. The beds are freshly made up and in the bathroom you will find clean towels and sheets.

Children are more than welcome. A highchair and cot are available. (Please let us know upon reservation.)
Pets are permitted too under your supervision.
Smokers are requested to smoke outside.

About St Privat in Hérault, Languedoc Roussillon

As the Bergerie is located 480 m (1600 ft) above sea level, the temperature is moderate even in the summertime. Furthermore, the buildings were constructed to remain cool in the summertime and there are numerous shady spots outside such as under the 150-year old holm oak near the Pond House or under the plane tree near the Bergerie.

200 m (630 ft) high cliffs rise in the north and north-west, about 100 m (100 yd) behind the house. In the south, southeast and southwest, the valley opens up, offering a magnificent view of the hills and plains in the direction of the Mediterranean (about 45 km/27 mi) and on clear days of the Pyrenees (about 150 km/90 mi).

There is no traffic noise; instead there is an unusual silence — the deep silence of nature, which can be experienced amongst a concerto of wind, chirping birds and the typical French cicada. During intermezzos of this concerto, one can hear the flapping of birds flying by.

In the garden you will find garden furniture and a barbecue enabling you to have a nice breakfast or lunch under the shady holm oak or plane trees. Plenty of comfortable reclining chairs are available for you to relax or enjoy a sunbath. The surrounding area seems to have been specifically created for this purpose.

The 5 x 12.50 m (16 x 41 ft) swimming pool has a depth of between 60 cm and 2 m (2 to 6 ft) deep and is part of a larger 350 m2 (3750 sq ft) pond.

In combination with other forms of life, the specially selected water and marsh plants make up an ecological system which ensures the swimming water remains clean and limpid.

Nothing or nobody will disturb you as you relax since there are, besides the owners, no neighbours. This enables you to do whatever you like the way you like. The nearest neighbours live 800 m (0.5 mi) away. There are practically no disturbances and the panorama is breathtaking.

For the children there is a swing, a sandbox and a children's pool in the garden.

How To Get To St Privat in Hérault, South of France and the Riviera

From the Netherlands to Saint Privat is about 1200 km by car. At the bottom of this page you will find a detailed route description of the last kilometers. In order to find us it is advised to print out this route description and to take it with you on your trip. Especially because the final kilometres (miles) aren't mappedout on your gps.

You can find electronic route planners on Google.

There are frequent flights to Montpellier by Air France or its daughter company Air Littoral. The daily transfers from Charleroi to Carcassonne by Ryanair are - considering the discount prices - very interesting.

We would be happy to pick you up at the airport in Montpellier at a fair price. However, for most people it is inconvenient not to have a car up here. At the airport you can find a number of car rental agencies including Ada, Avis, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt.

Travelling by train, especially with the high speed train, is a very relaxing way to go on holiday. The Thalys will bring you from Brussels to Paris in just one hour. From Paris you continue your journey with the high speed train Paris - Montpellier (3 hours 15 minutes). Both the Thalys as the high speed train have 12 direct transfers to Paris on a daily basis. Early reservations will save you up to 50%.

We would be happy to pick you up at the airport in Montpellier at a fair price. However, for most people it is inconvenient not to have a car up here. You can find car rental information above.

The motorway A 7 up to interchange Orange
Turn right in the direction of motorway A 9 Nîmes / Bacelone
Stay on motorway A 9 Nîmes — Montpellier
In Montpellier take the last exit before péage (Montpellier-Ouest)
In Montpellier follow the signs 'Millau'
After Montpellier you will join the motorway A 750
Take the A 750 to Saint Felix
Passing Saint Félix stay on the motorway until Rabieux
In Rabieux turn right in the direction of Saint Jean de la Blaquière
in Saint Jean de la Blaquière turn right in the direction of Les Salces, passing La Rouquette, passing Les Salces in the direction of Saint Privat.
Before the bridge turn right to Saint Privat
At the end of Saint Privat turn right towards 'Chemin des Rougeos'.
From this point on you can follow the signs LOE 5. You have another 3 kilometres (.. miles) to go on a dirt road until you reach 'Bergerie les Crozes'. Call us from La Rouquette and we'll come down to the village to collect you. Especially at night it is unsafe to head up by yourself, so we would strongly advise you to phone us (0467447782). From direction Perpignan / Béziers

The motorway A 9 Narbonne — Montpellier
Take the exit Agde/Pézenas
At the roundabout take the direction Pézenas
Just before Pézenas take the motorway A 75 direction 'Millau'
Stay on the motorway up to Lodève
Take the exit Lodève Sud untill you arrive at a 'Control Technique' on the right with signs 'Saint Privat 13 km'.
Follow this road to Saint Privat
At the beginning of Saint Privat turn left towards 'Chemin des Rougeos'.
