Countryside Cottage in the Southern Vendée

The Cornflowers Holiday Home, with a heated pool and private garden is set in the peaceful hamlet of  Oulerie, surrounded by countryside, and only 18km from the beaches of the Southern Vendée. Close to amenities and great location for exploring the country lanes on foot or bike.

Holiday Accommodation at The Cornflowers Holiday Home

The Cornflowers Holiday Home dates back to the 19th Century, when it was originally a farmhouse. The area is still very rural and the house has very few neighbours. The owners have spent the last few years renovating and modernising the house, and have offered it for rental for the first time in 2012. It has been tastefully decorated and furnished throughout, and is very light and airy.

About Lairoux in Vendée, Pays de La Loire

The Cornflowers Holiday Home is located in the hamlet of Oulerie, part of the village of Lairoux, in the beautiful Vendée countryside.

Luçon is only 10 minutes away and is a great place for a day out with a visit to the 600 year old cathedral or a saunter around the Jardin Dumaine Park. Here you will find many shops, bars, restaurants and a weekly market.

The area is full of tourist attractions - such as the Indian Forest Adventure park, the car museum, the old port at La Rochelle or the many ruined castles and abbeys.

The main attractions in the Vendee are the fantastic beaches - some for surfing, body boarding, rock pooling or just relaxing! The beaches are only 20 minutes away and the weather is great from Easter until at least the end of September.

The surrounding countryside is great to explore and there are many guided walks around the area - stopping off in many of the picturesque little villages for a coffee or beer - many having weekly markets and brocante or antiques fairs at the weekends.

For a more active holiday, there are many watersports available at La Tranche or Les Sables D'Olonne including surfing, sand kiting, diving and jet skiing.

We are also within a 60 minute drive of the Puy de Fou and Futuroscope Theme Parks.

How To Get To Lairoux in Vendée, North West France

The Cornflowers holiday home is only 40 minutes from the airport at La Rochelle and 70 minutes from Nantes airport. Both airports are served by several budget airlines, such as Ryanair, EasyJet, Jet2 and FlyBe. Car hire is available from both airports.

For guests who wish to bring their own cars, the northern ferry ports of France are as little as 3 hours away from the village of Lairoux in the Vendée. St Malo is 3 hours away, Caen is 4 hours drive, Cherbourg is 5 hours drive and the port and Euro Tunnel at Calais are 6.5 hours away. (All times are approximate, and do not allow for stopping off). A discount code can be offered for guests using Brittany Ferries via Portsmouth to France.

A car is essential for this holiday home.

The garden is mostly south facing and is great for sunbathing - with no neighbouring houses overlooking. There are tall hedges and gates leading to the quiet cul-de-sac.

The heated pool is 10m x 4m and is open from Easter until the end of September. It is surrounded by a grassy area and there are several sun loungers for your use.

For al fresco dining, there is a patio table and chairs, along with a built in BBQ.

Additional price information

  • A 30% deposit is required to secure your reservation.
  • The remaining 70% balance to be paid 8 weeks before your holiday.
  • A Security Deposit cheque of £100 is also required to cover any damage to the property - although damages are not limited to this amount.
  • When you arrive, the house will be clean and tidy, and it is expected that the house is also clean and tidy when you leave, if not, then the owners reserve the right to charge for cleaning the house. This sum will be deducted from your security deposit.
  • All bed linens and towels (hand, bath and tea) are included in with the rental price, but please bring your own pool/beach towels.
