Wonderful Character Cottage sleeping 8-10 Relaxing and Peaceful Location

La Maison du Puit is a charming character stone built cottage. Set in the quiet hamlet of La Ville Gourio, it is an ideal setting to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing break in the French countryside. The cottage is 3kms south of all amenities and attractions in Ploermel and the surrounding areas and is around 45 minutes drive SW of Rennes.

Holiday Accommodation at La Maison du Puit

La Maison du Puit is a 4 bedroom, detached, 19th Century stone built cottage with 130 square metres of floor space and 5500 square meters of south facing gardens.

Double gates lead from the lane to the gravelled parking area large enough for at least four cars and the door to the lobby area that is used as the main entrance to the house.

• The lobby / utility area contains washing machine, tumble drier, key cupboard and downstairs cloakroom.
• The garden room / 4th bedroom is accessed from the lobby and contains sofa / double bed, storage, electric radiator and double door access to the outside patio area.
• The large farmhouse style kitchen / dining room has a large table that accommodates eight, a large gas range cooker, fridge freezer, drinks fridge, dishwasher, double sink, gas fire, electric radiator, microwave, electric kettle, toaster, food processor, electric grill, loads of glasses, crockery, utensils, pots/pans, TV, CD player and CDs. Features some low beams.
• The lounge has two leather sofas, one chaise longue / double bed sofa, 2 electric radiators, a wood burning stove, TV with French digital and British Sky freeview channels, DVD player, DVDs, board games, books and library swap shelf.

Stairs lead to spacious landing that provides access to all the upstairs rooms.

• The master bedroom has a large double bed, electric radiator, storage, and en-suite bathroom with corner bath, WC, basin and electric towel rail.
• The second bedroom has a double bed, built in wardrobes and electric radiator.
• The third bedroom has a double bed, built in wardrobes and electric convector heater.
• The family bathroom has a shower cubicle, basin, WC and electric heater.

Outside

The rear garden is south facing, comprising 5500 metres mainly laid to grass with fruit and nut trees. It is accessed from the parking area or the double doors from the lounge or garden room. There is a stone patio area directly outside the rear of the cottage with a fixed patio awning, patio table and six chairs, swing seat, gas bbq and chiminea.

From May to September there is an above ground, 5 metre swimming pool. There is also a childrens play area and equipment. The Summer House contains additional garden furniture, equipment for the swimmimg pool and outside games for guests to enjoy in the garden. When the fruit and nuts are in season guests are welcome to help themselves from the trees.

About Ploermel in Morbihan, Brittany

La Maison du Puit is situated in the hamlet of La Ville Gourio. A small community of around 16 properties that comes under the commune of Ploermel.

The centre of Ploermel is situated 3 kms to the north. Ploermel is a busy town situated on the crossroads on the main East/West and North/South routes across Morbihan so it is easy to gain access to lots of Brittany's attractions. There are many cafes, bars and restaurants in Ploermel and the surrounding villages. Ploermel has three large supermarkets off the ring road and many independent shops in the centre of town including some excellent bakeries. Market day is Friday. Ploermel has a cinema complex, bowling alley, nightclub, large sports complex and swimming pool.

To the north of the town (5kms from the cottage) is Lac au Duc, the largest freshwater lake in Brittany. It has a sandy beach, pedalos, many water sports including water skiing, sailing and canoeing. There is a nine hole golf course on the southern shore surrounded by the France's national hydrangea collection that provides beautiful colours all summer. There is a hippodrome that has horse race meetings three or four times per year 2kms from the cottage. The Ploermel area has many well sign posted cycling and walking routes.

Malestroit is 12kms South of the cottage. It is a picturesque medieval town on the banks of the Oust/Nantes/Brest canal and home to the Bretagne Resistance Museum.

Josselin is 15kms west and is dominated by the spectacluar chateau sitting on a cliff above the Oust/Nantes/Brest canal.

Rochefort-en-terre has been called the prettiest village in France and is 40kms South, sitting on top of a hill and is full of character buildings and artisan shops.

Loheac, 20kms East is home to a magnificent collection of cars and a race track. The nearest city is Vannes 50kms South. It has superb walls around the old city overlooking the port.

The tourist beaches of Carnac are 90kms SW with Quiberon peninsula another 20kms beyond that. The chic La Boule beaches are 120kms South East. However there are many excellent and quiet beaches around the Gulf de Morbihan which is only 25 to 30 minutes due south. To the North East of Ploermel is the Forest de Paimpont, home of King Arthur and Merlin where there are a number of locations with walks and attractions.

How To Get To Ploermel in Morbihan, North West France

La Maison du Puit is easily reached by road. From the channel ports and tunnel it is all motorway and takes around 6 hours. The most direct route is via Pont Normandie, Caen and Rennes. Toll charges apply. From St Malo it is a one hour ten minute drive whether you use the fast roads via Rennes or the cross country routes via Dinan. The cottage is situated 1.5 kms south of the Main Ploermel exit from the N24 on a lane off the road to Redon. 

The nearest airport to Ploermel is Rennes but it has limited flights from UK cities. The most practical airport to use from the UK is Dinard which is just over an hours drive to the cottage.

The nearest railway staion is at Vannes but you have to change at Rennes for TGV so it is more practical to drive from Rennes railway station which is 45 minutes from the cottage.
