Chabanier is a small village which consists of only a few farmhouses. Situated on a hill (600M) at the end of a cul de sac in the "Correze" with 25 hectares of land and surrounded by forest, meadows and small streams, Domaine Chabanier has a wonderful sense of tranquillity. The houses (between 150 and 300 years old) vary in size. All have thick stone walls and old chestnut beams, are free standing and offer marvelous views over the surrounding fields and woods. The houses have been completely renovated, fully furnished and equipped with everything you need for a relaxing holiday.   They share a big play field with swings, volleyball net, a boules pitch, goal posts, table tennis and plenty of wooded area where they can build huts etc.

The new chlorine free swimming pool (12x6M) is securely fenced and lies about 200 yards away in a big open field. It has roman steps and a large terrace with sun beds and umbrellas. 

A 15 minute walk through the woods from the houses takes you to the lake. Lac Valette is 9 km long with a sandy bottom and the water temperature is very comfortable in July and August. It seems that there is quite some fish in the lake as well. The houses are situated close together, 5 to 10 meters apart in a row. The Chabanne and Ecurie are in one long building, the Maison Bleue and the Fournil are freestanding.

Coming back to Domaine Chabanier after a day out, dive into the pool  and have an aperitif on your own terrace overlooking the meadows and the children playing ball games in the field, table tennis or enjoying the swings.

Light the barbecue on your terrace, put some wonderful Limousin meat on it and just relax, marvelling about the sunset, watching the small bats and listening to the owls. Overhead you can just grab the stars due to the darkness of the surrounding countryside.

Accommodation detail

The house with the blue shutters is the largest of the village. It measures 12 x 6.5 m and sleeps 8 people comfortably. The French doors open to a large sunny terrace, overlooking the fields and next to the house is another terrace with ample shade under an ancient shrub.

Ground Floor:

• Kitchen: 4-ring hob with extractor fan, dishwasher, electric oven/grill, coffee machine, tall fridge with freezer, microwave.
• Living area: of 12 x 6 m with open L-shaped kitchen and large sitting area around the fire place.
• Toilet with wash hand basin.
• Terrace with picnic table, 4 easy chairs, extra table, umbrella, barbecue.

First Floor:

• Balcony room 1 with Queen size bed, fitted wardrobe, reading lamps, chairs.
• Balcony room 2 with 2 single beds, fitted wardrobe, chairs.
• Bedroom 3 with King size bed, fitted wardrobe, side tables, reading lamps, chairs.
• Bedroom 4 with 2 single beds, fitted wardrobe, chairs.
• Bathroom 1 with bath and wash hand basin.
• Bathroom 2 with toilet, shower and wash hand basin.

About the location

Domaine Chabanier is set in the Correze, South West France. The Correze is a land of nature, small farms and woods and a peaceful location that is ideally situated on the crossroads of the Dordogne, Massif Central and the Lot Valley and is known for its fresh and clean air. You can find plants in the forest, that only grow in France above the 1500 m. simply because the atmosphere is so clean! Breathe deeply and enjoy nature's beauty.

The history of the Correze, profoundly marked by the wars of the Middle Ages, can still be enjoyed through the regions many castles such as Ventadour, Tour De Merle, Chateau Sedieres, Turenne which are all within a couple of hours drive from Domaine Chabanier. Throughout the summer lightshows, entertainment and tours are organized at most historic sites, bringing to life the history of the Correze.

The small typical Correzienne villages all have a weekly market where local farmers offer their wonderful selection of cheeses, honey, sausages and ripe fruit and vegetables. Next to this the larger towns in the region all have a "brocante" or antique Market during the high season, where you can pick up items ranging from books to old fashioned scales and antique furniture and mirrors.

The area offers a couple of very interesting Theme parks like Parc Vulcania, situated 15 km west of Clermont Ferrand where you descent underground into an old volcano, or for the more adventurous: Parc Robinson, 20 km southwest of Clermont Ferrand in Mont Dore, where you can swing from treetop to treetop.

How to get here

• Chabanier is situated on the route D18 from Egletons to Argentat. You can find Egletons between Tulle and Clermont Ferrand on the N89.
• It is about  a 4 hours drive from Paris.
• The airports of Limoges, Clermont Ferrand and Bergerac can be reached within 2 hours.
• Nearest train station: at Brive-la-Gaillarde.
