This thoughtfully furnished apartment, on the first floor of "Résidence Christiana", is ideally situated in the heart of La Grande Terche, a snowball's throw from the télécabine, ski hire shop and the local restaurants and bars.

The Skiing

Described as a "skiers mountain", La Grande Terche has 34km of pistes served by 16 lifts. The resort was the venue for the 1983 French National Championship and being only 10-15 minutes drive from Morzine, and similarly close to the Ardent ski lift, provides easy access to Avoriaz, Chatel, Switzerland and the rest of the massive Portes du Soleil ski area.

The Portes du Soleil is arguably the largest ski area in the world playing host to some 650km of pistes (including La Grande Terche) encompassing 12 French and Swiss resorts. The area provides diverse skiing from pleasant tree lined runs to the more challenging black run - the "Swiss Wall".

Ski passes for the whole area can be purchased in La Grande Terche, which will also enable you to use the navette bus service from the village.

In addition, Les Gets, also a short drive away, or accessible from Morzine, is a popular skiing area.

About the location

La Grande Terche is a friendly, traditional savoyarde village with a French flavour owing to the fact that there is no "packaged" accommodation. The village is served by a number of bars, restaurants and shops and has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. St Jean d'Aulps, with its 10th century abbey, is about 5 minutes by car (or navette during the day) where there are a number of further bars, restaurants and shops as well as a larger Champion Supermarket.

How to get here

By air

Daily flights to Geneva are offered by a number of airlines such as Easyjet, British Airways and Swiss Air. There are major car hire firms at Geneva Airport and driving to the apartment takes approximately 1 hour. Detailed directions can be provided.

By car

La Grande Terche is 8-9 hours drive from Calais. The journey is Autoroute driving all the way bar the last 45 minutes of the trip. Again, detailed directions can be provided.

Additional price information

Christmas & New Year: £375

• All prices are per week for the apartment, which includes heating, hot water and electricity.
• Prices are based on a maximum occupancy of 4 persons sharing for 1 week - usually Saturday to Saturday.
• Shorter breaks will be possible depending on availability.
• If you wish to stay for 2 weeks, then a reduction of 15% is available on the weekly rate.
• Please note that on your arrival you will need to provide the French Agent with a refundable deposit of £100, so you will need to take your cheque book and card.
