Luxury self catering accomodation on the edge of a small village with all facilities. Le Moulin des Agrilles is set in 7 acres of its own grounds, completely surrounded on all sides by vines. The produce of which can be bought locally and tasted in the winery just down the road. There is plenty of grass for the children and adults to run free. There is also a football pitch on which to practice your skills. We have also included for your enjoyment table tennis and boules. There are several fruit trees in the garden producing delicious cherries, figs, plums, apples and pears. The guests at Le Moulin are more than welcome to help themselves in season.

Our 12x6m heated salt water swimming pool has recently been fenced to conform to French law. The owners are very pleased with this new fencing as it gives all concerned peace of mind for the safety of children. The owners also took the decision of having a salt water system installed because it is so much kinder to eyes and skin, which is a big consideration when so much time is spent in the pool. The pool is shallow at one end making it ideal for smaller children to play in and slopes off to 2.30m at the deepest end. We have also installed a 'douche solaire' for our guests comfort, a solar heated shower which is lovely to use when you get out of the pool. The pool is situated a little way from the house, so that the peace is not disturbed. There are also nice shaded areas by the pool should the sun get too much for you. There are delightful views from the pool of beautiful countryside and the Gironde in the distance.

The owners have endeavoured to create a house and environment in which to enjoy a relaxing, peaceful holiday and for you to savour some of the pleasures of this delightful region. It is a perfect place to unwind de stress and have fun. It is ideal for parties of friends and extended families who want space and peace. All that we ask in return is that respect our house, enjoy the many benefits and leave it as you find it.

Accommodation detail

Le Moulin is a delightful and serene manor house. Set in 7 acres of grounds, completely surrounded by vineyards, with the view of the Gironde on the horizon. This original Charentaise house has been sympathetically restored making it a suberb location for your self catering holiday. Le Moulin combines both the comforts of modern living and the charm of an elegant French house. The Charantaise fireplaces have been retained as well as the beams in the huge kitchen, and where appropriate, elsewhere in the house. Furnished with French antiques and objets trouvee, the bedding softly billowing white clouds, the drawing room a place of peace and tranquillity, the gardens resplendent with old roses this is a setting truly ‘far from the madding crowd’.

The spacious accommodation will sleep 15 adults and children in 4 double bedrooms, 3 twin bedrooms and a single bedroom over three floors. Three of the double bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms and there are further bathrooms for the other bedrooms. There’s plenty of parking, room to play football or other ball games. A fenced roman style 12 x 6m salt water swimming pool is sited close enough to the house to be safe and far enough away to preserve tranquillity for anyone wishing to rest.

While it is within walking distance of the local village the location is truly safe for children to play and explore. The garden also boasts dark cherries ripe figs, plump plums, juicy apples and firm pears already for you to pick. The local winery is just down the road and there you can buy the produce of the surrounding vines.

And, if you should tire of lounging in the sun and the children become bored with the pool, the town of Royan with its splendid beach, reputably one of the finest in Europe, is a short drive away. Other delights of the Charente-Maritime also await you : the hollyhock and acanthus strewn village of Talmont, the distilleries of Cognac, a local chateau welcoming visitors to Le Moulin with a tour of the winery.

Le Moulin has become a special place to its visitors, many of whom return year after year. It’s a place for special parties : birthdays, anniversaries, and weddings. It is a place of joy and welcome and peace.

Le Moulin des Agrilles is situated in the most beautiful countryside in the Charente Maritime region of France. An ideal location for those who want to get away from the hustle & bustle of city life but not so remote that you feel cut off.

Outstanding views over rolling countryside, over fields of vines and sunflowers to the river in the distance.

How to get here

Flying to either Bordeaux 1hr away or La Rochelle 11/2hrs away are the easiest airports for Les Agrilles.

Ferries to St Malo or Caen are easily managed travelling to and from the property

• All prices are per week based on self-catering.
• For Christmas, New Year, Easter and any other dates please contact the owner for tariffs.
• Lets are from 5.00 pm Saturday to 10.00 am Saturday.
• Prices include towels pool towels are available if required.
• Please no pets; smoking only outside due to insurance and fire risk.
• A breakage deposit of £250 per week is requested  a separate cheque is requested and this will be held uncashed unless there has been due cause to do so until 14 days of your departure when it will be returned to you.
• Meals are available on request 25€ per person
• Shopping service provide for your arrival
