Traditional House Overlooking Ste-Croix Lake
The Verdon Canyon is the second largest natural canyon in the world, after the Grand Canyon in the USA. In parts the power of the torrent over the millennia has dug away to make it over 300 meters deep.
The village of Aiguines is located at the opening to this canyon, sat high on the cliff tops overlooking the clear blue waters of the Ste-Croix Lake. The village, although calm and relatively small, has a number of historical monuments, like its 17th century castle and the village chapel. Once reputed for its woodturning, Aiguines still has one remaining workshop/museum, which covers the history of this art form, popular in the 18th century. The village also has several excellent restaurants offering traditional French cuisine, pasta, pizza and of course local wines.
Holiday Accommodation at Traditional House
The house is traditional in its build with small windows and shutters to keep out the sun in the summer. All the rooms are spacious and are located over four floors. The property offers:
- Attic bedroom, which will accommodate a couple or two children and has the most breathtaking views over lake Sainte Croix. The next level has:
- Bathroom
- Second bedroom, which is large enough for a couple or two children and again has superb views of the lake. The second floor offers:
- Kitchen and dining area complete with fridge, microwave, coffee maker, kettle and electric hob - you will also find a CD player.
- Small studio on the ground floor comprises sleeping and shower facilities together with an automatic washing machine.
You will see that the interior retains many of its original features including oak beams and ceramic tiled floors (traditional Salerne tiles). The house will accommodate between 6 and 8 people and sheets and bedding are provided for guests.
Parking is on the road outside overlooking the lake. There are further car-parking places in the village once you have off loaded your bags.
