Les Tilleuls has been the owners home since October 2000 when they decided to change direction and move to France from Scotland to experience a different culture and way of life. The house is over 150 years old and was originally a farm. At one point it became the centre of village life when for many years it was run as the local Inn for the surrounding community. In 1989 the house was purchased by an English couple and transformed into an attractive and popular B&B which they ran successfully for 11 years. Since the present owners arrival in 2000 they have continued to upgrade the property in an endeavour to ensure your comfort in every way possible.

There are five ensuite bedrooms, all with comfortable beds and good quality towels and bed linen.

We have a very large south facing breakfast room and lots of books and information to help you plan your stay. Of course we are on hand to offer any help or advice you may need.

The house is situated in the centre of a very small quiet village (150 inhabitants) and overlooks the village green. The property is surrounded by farmland and forest and yet only a 10 minute drive from the autoroute exit at Nuits St. Georges. This is an excellent spot from which to explore the surrounding area, but also an ideal midway stopover for those heading south from England, Holland or Belgium. Behind the house there is a large enclosed garden where you can relax after a long drive and enjoy a glass or two of burgundy or sample a Kir which is the local aperatif. There are swings and a slide to amuse our younger guests. Restaurants to suit all tastes are but a short drive away in Nuits St Georges, Gevrey Chambertin, Vosne Romanee, Flagey Echezeau to name but a few. If you prefer you are welcome to picnic in the garden

About the location

Our village is situated in the heart of the Cote d'Or, one of the most famous regions in Burgundy and only a short drive from some of the most celebrated names associated with wine namely Nuits saint Georges, Gevrey Chambertin, Vougeot, Mersault, Chambolle, Vosne Romanee to mention but a few.

For those with an interest in history, architecture, fine wines, good food, walking, cycling, golf, gardens, museums etc., there is sure to something for everyone to enjoy.

Should you wish to travel further afield, a day trip to Paris is within easy reach on the TGV from Dijon (1 hr 40 mins).

 Popular visits from us include:

• Beaune: Famous Hospice de Beaune, Wine Museum, Saturday market, Art Galeries
• Dijon: Capital of Burgundy, 7 Museums including the Musee des Beaux arts, Ducal Palace, Parks, Gardens and a market 3 times a week.
• Route Des Grand Crus : Explore the Chateaux and discover the fortified houses surrounded by vineyards and sample some of the world's most renowned wines.
• Vougeot: Renaissance Chateau of clos de Vougeot.
• Abbaye de Fontenay : One of the best examples of Renaissance Architecture.
• Vallee de l'Ouche: Beautiful scenery, excellent walking country and lots of interesting villages to explore.
• Le Val de Saone : Enjoy a mini cruise down the river Soane and treat yourself to some delicious whitebait.
• Louhans: Large open-air market. (Monday morning)

How to get here

If arriving from the autoroute A31, take the exit at Nuits St. George, follow direction Dijon on the N74, when you arrive at the second village of Vougeot, turn right on the D25 direction Gilly Les Citeaux, continue for 6 km and then you enter Epernay Sous Gevrey and the house is the large one next to the church, directly in front of the village green. Or for those picking up a hire car in Dijon and arriving from Paris – take the T.G.V. to Dijon (1hr 40mins) follow signs to Beaune and when you arrive at Vougeot turn left onto D25.
