Hidden amid the vines and fully renovated throughout, the Chateau has large rooms comfortably accommodating 8 in 4 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms. One bedroom is in the tower.

The village has a boulangerie, boucherie and supermarket. The surrounding countryside consists of Saint Emilion vines (to admire), picturesque wine chateaux (to taste) and beautiful villages and churches (to explore).

Inside

• Kitchen - large country kitchen with its open fire, sofa and big oak dining table is the heart of the house.
• Salon and dining room - huge formal room, has a cool tranquillity with its antiques, Knole sofas, candle chandeliers and massive fireplace. From there you can read, listen to music, explore the video collection or just listen to the ticking of the grandfather clock.
• Bedroom 1 - has a king-size bed and en-suite shower room.
• Bedroom 2 - has a double bed with an en-suite bathroom set in a turret.
• Bedroom 3 - is set in the tower with its own staircase and trapdoor. This is a twin bedroom.
• Bedroom 4 - also a twin bedroom
• Shower room

All the bedrooms are good sizes, have stunning views over the vines and have amazing old beams. However, you need to duck in a few places.

Outside

The mature, landscaped garden has a large 10m x 5 m fenced and heated swimming pool with roman steps and a beautiful pagoda (with barbecue) providing shade a lovely dining setting and terrace.

About the location

The medieval masterpiece of Saint Emilion's ancient square is surrounded by cafes and restaurants. The historic town of Castillion la Bataille, situated on the banks of the Dordogne, has a large street market. A lake side beach complex is only 15 kms away, suitable for both adults and children. Ideal for exploration, westward is Ste. Foy-la-Grande and historic Bergerac. Further into the Dordogne, past numerous Castles, is the mountain village of Domme and golden medieval Sarlat. Eastward is Bordeaux, Cap ferret for oysters and Arcachon, for Europe's largest sand dunes.
