Just 35 minutes from Bordeaux and 90 minutes from Bergerac, this beautifully restored and spacious farmhouse is in a wonderfully peaceful setting of vineyards and woodland, on the outskirts of the medieval village of Budos.

Situated in the heart of the Bordeaux vineyards of les Graves and just 5 minutes from the picturesque hillside village of Sauternes, we will arrange private visits and tastings at local wine châteaux for you and advise on local restaurants and make reservations if you wish. We also organise wine tasting holidays which are both great fun and educational throughout the year as well as letting out the property as a gîte and chambres d'hôte.

The immediate area is perfect for hiking, cycling, horse riding and canoeing, whilst the Lac de Hostens (20 minutes away) offers swimming and wind surfing. The Ocean and Arcachon Basin are just 1 hour away where you can swim, surf and follow a walk along the largest sand dune in Europe by a plate of oysters and a glass of crisp white wine. If you prefer less exerting exercise, you can tackle the 18 hole golf course in Langon (20 minutes away), take a barge trip down the Canal du Midi or treat yourself to the ultimate relaxation experience in the recently opened thermal complex in Casteljaloux (1 hour away).

Bordeaux is one of the most beautiful and exciting cities in France. It was officially recognized by UNESCO as part of its World Heritage in 2007 and is famous for its 18th century architectural elegance and medieval centre. It boasts numerous museums and art galleries and shopaholics will enjoy the longest pedestrian shopping street in France.

The whole area is great for culture. Classical music and jazz lovers will be spoilt for choice as there are numerous folk festivals in the Summer months.

The Entre Deux Mers region is famous for its medieval Bastide towns as well as its gently rolling vineyards.

For local amenities, the farmhouse is situated 5 minutes from a village with a baker, small supermarket, chemist and doctor and is 15 minutes from Langon which has a hypermarket, several supermarkets and hospital.

The house, which has been fully and stylishly renovated, has many original features including exposed stone walls, exposed beams and terracotta tiles. There is central heating throughout.

About the location

Budos is the village where the property is situated. Apart from a fabulous and friendly restaurant, it has a small grocer's shop and a beautiful mediaeval castle surrounded by vineyards.

Landiras (5 minutes away) has a small supermarket, a great baker, chemist, and doctor.

Langon (10 minutes) is a bustling town with supermarkets, cinema, theatre and one of the best restaurants in France!

Bordeaux (35 minutes) was officially recognized by UNESCO as part of its World Heritage in 2007. Its unique architectural wealth has been recently restored and enhanced by extensive rejuvenation. It's also great for shopping, eating nd clubbing.

Mediaeval villages and towns are scattered all over the area. Among the more interesting: Bazas with a beautiful cathedral and a lively and colourful market (20 minutes), Villandraut (10minutes) with another mediaeval castle and a great restaurant overlooking the river Ciron and of course Saint Emilion (45 minutes) which is one of the most beautiful mediaeval villages in France.

The Entre Deux Mers area is just 20 minutes away and boast many bastide towns and the homes of Toulouse Lautrec and François Mauriac.

The beaches at Arcachon and Biscarosse are 60 minutes away and the lake at Hostens 20 minutes.

The best local auberges and restaurants are often found in tiny hamlets. The owner will be very happy to give recommendations.
