Home description

The house is very quiet and peaceful with an acre and a half of gardens giving complete seclusion without being isolated. It is in the Dordogne valley and benefits from the sun all day long. 2002 was the first year the house was made available to rent and most of the furniture was newly purchased then. The house has central heating so is available in the cooler periods of the year as well.

The L-shaped lounge

Ground Floor

You enter the house from a covered terrace area. It has a large hall containing a bookcase with local travel books and details of local attractions, plus over 50 English speaking videos for you to watch should the weather let you down. A breakfast table, four chairs and a baby's high chair are all provided for you to enjoy a lazy breakfast next to the window. From the hall you can pass into either the kitchen or living room.

• The kitchen is well equipped with modern appliances including fridge freezer, microwave, oven, electric and gas hobs and a grill, washing machine and tumble dryer. It is decorated in white and blue that gives a very local feel, it also has a double French window opening onto the terrace and views of the garden.
• The L shaped lounge is very spacious. The longer section contains a sofa, another dining table seating 6-8 people, a TV and Video plus a Sony Playstation with a number of games to entertain the children should it be raining. There is a lovely French open fireplace, there are also two double French windows that open onto the terrace giving beautiful views of the garden and surrounding hills. The shorter section is separated by a few steps where a sofa bed is located facing more French windows that open onto a covered terrace that overlooks the swimming pool.

First Floor

Upstairs are three bedrooms.

• The main bedroom has a double bed and wardrobe and an ensuite bathroom with shower.
• There are then two further bedrooms, one contains a double bed and overlooks the swimming pool the other has two single beds plus a baby's cot with mattress, both of these rooms contain built in wardrobes.
• There is also a family bathroom off the landing which contains a baby changing table and bath.

The Garden

The garden is completely secluded with 1.5 acres of lawn, it also has local fruit trees including a walnut tree. A fenced swimming pool (10mx5m) is to the rear of the property surrounded by trees and plants and a stone barbecue is on the corner of the terrace. The partly covered terrace means you can lie out in the sun or relax in the shade, the garden furniture includes 2 tables 8 chairs and numerous sun loungers.

About the location

A bit further away you have St Emilion (30 Mins by car) for those who want to sample the world famous wine and an excellent Golf course at Chateau Vigiers, near St Foy le Grande. There are good communications to Bordeaux and the coast if you fancy a day by the sea (approx. 2 hrs by car) and of course you could head further inland towards the historic towns of Sarlat and Cahor.
