Where is it

Haute-Vienne
 

The Gîte is a self-contained part of a barn conversion with its own patio and garden and is set in four acres of garden and woodland, offering privacy and tranquillity. It is situated on the Haute-Vienne/Dordogne borders in the beautiful Perigord-Limousin natural regional park.   

Accommodation detail

The gîte is set in rural surroundings a few minutes drive from the village of Marval in a locality known as the Pays des Fueillardiers (the country of the woodcutters).

 A cot and high chair are also available.

There is a 10m x 5.5m swimming pool, which is fenced and has an alarm which conforms to the new regulations and is shared with the owners.

About the location

The nearest village of Marval is a few minutes drive away, and has a bar/restaurant, post office, tabac/depot de pain which is also a small general store.   There is also a hairdresser.  7 kms away is the village of St. Mathieu that has a supermarket, 2 bakers, a bar/café plus a number of other shops, including a pharmacy and a doctor.  Cussac is only 6kms away with supermarket, bakers and restaurants.

The towns of Nontron and Piégut are within 15/20 minutes drive, both having supermarkets and shops with markets one day a week, where an abundance of local produce may be bought. The lovely river town of Brantôme is within a 30 minute drive (take a kayak ride down the river - recommended). Follow the route of Richard the Lion Heart, who was fatally wounded at nearby Chalûs.

How to get here

The nearest national airport with car hire - Limoges - 45 minutes drive away, with flights from London Stansted, East Midlands, Liverpool and Southampton.   
The nearest train (TGV) - Angoulême - 80kms/50miles - with car hire.

Our gite at Carreau is well equipped and all towels and linen are provided for your stay and are changed weekly.   However, please bring your own pool towels.

There is a barbecue for your personal use, a swing for the children or you can try your hand at boules - all are available in the garden.

There is also a private fishing lake just 5 minutes walk away if you want a little peace and quiet and want to try fishing - we have rods and equipment available.

Additional price information

All prices are per week from Saturday 4pm to Saturday 10am (although there can be flexibility so please contact owner). The price includes gas, electricity  etc plus all towels/linen are provided for your stay and are changed weekly.   However, please bring your own pool towels.

You will also find a "Welcome Pack" on your arrival which includes bread, fruit juice, butter, jam, fresh fruit, fresh eggs and the all essential bottle of wine.
