Home description

The Gîte is a self-contained part of a barn conversion with its own patio and garden and is set in four acres of garden and woodland, offering privacy and tranquillity. It is situated on the Haute-Vienne/Dordogne borders in the beautiful Perigord-Limousin natural regional park.   We also offer Bed and Breakfast in two double ensuite rooms in the main house.

The gîte is set in rural surroundings a few minutes drive from the village of Marval in a locality known as the Pays des Fueillardiers (the country of the woodcutters).

Ground Floor

• Open plan living area comfortably furnished with sofa bed, armchairs, CD player and TV.
• Dining area with table and chairs.
• Kitchen is fully equipped with a gas cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine,coffee maker etc.

First Floor

• Landing
• Bedroom 1 has a double bed, wardrobe and chests of drawers.
• Bedroom 2 has a single bed, bedside table and wardrobe.
• Bathroom which is fitted with a shower, toilet and vanity unit.

Outside

• Garden table, chairs and umbrella.
• BBQ
• Sun-loungers

 A cot and high chair are also available.

There is a 10m x 5.5m swimming pool, which is fenced and has an alarm which conforms to the new regulations and is shared with the owners.

About the location

The nearest village of Marval is a few minutes drive away, and has a bar/restaurant, post office, tabac/depot de pain which is also a small general store. 7 kms away is the village of St. Mathieu that has a supermarket, 2 bakers, a bar/café plus a number of other shops, including a pharmacy and a doctor.  Cussac is only 6kms away with supermarket, bakers and restaurants.

The towns of Nontron and Piégut are within 15/20 minutes drive, both having supermarkets and shops with markets one day a week, where an abundance of local produce may be bought. The lovely river town of Brantôme is within a 30 minute drive (take a kayak ride down the river - recommended). Follow the route of Richard the Lion Heart, who was fatally wounded at nearby Chalûs.

How to get here

The nearest national airport with car hire - Limoges - 45 minutes drive away, with flights from London Stansted, East Midlands, Liverpool and Southampton.   Also Angouleme airport is now operational.
The nearest train (TGV) - Angoulême - 80kms/50miles - with car hire.
