Bed and Breakfast in Delightful Château with Pool

Two luxury suites and two comfortable rooms, all with en-suite facilities. Open from March to December. Proprietors: Diana and Aubyn Howard.

Come and stay in this delightful Château, perfectly located at the point where the vine covered western slopes of the Rhône meet the first rolling hills of the Ardèche, with views (on a clear day) of the snow-capped Alpes. An oasis of calm and confort (Chambre d'Hôtes de Charme and 4 epis with Gîtes de France), set back from the busy Rhône valley, but still within easy reach of everything of interest. This is authentic France, refreshingly free from the trappings of tourism. The owners look forward to welcoming you, whether for an extended, restful stay or for a stop-over on your way south or north. We have a 12m x 6m swimming pool, accompanied by sun terrace, barbeque and covered games area.

Chavagnac is an 18th century Directoire style Château and farm, overlooking 36 acres of land which includes gardens and park, woods, a vineyard, orchards and rolling meadows (which are grazed by horses in the summer months). You are welcome to stroll through the grounds or enjoy the sun on the garden terrace.

4 spacious and comfortable rooms, tastefully decorated with warm colours and restored wooden floors.

Suite 1 - Caroline: has a double bed with a single French style day bed for a child, if required. A study room adjoins the bedroom. The en-suite bathroom is well proportioned with twin basins and bath. View from main room onto park.

Suite 2 - Emma: has a double bed and an adjoining single bedroom with a large single bed. Spacious en-suite bathroom. View from main room onto park.

Bedroom 3 - Diane: The third room has a double bed with en-suite shower room. View onto the courtyard and the front of the house.

Bedroom 4 – Béatrice: The fourth room has a double bed with washbasin/loo and use of main bathroom. View of park.

Bedroom 5 – Antoinette: The fifth room has twin beds and is a useful 'overflow' for children (using the bathroom of one of the Suites).

The property can flexibly accommodate groups of up to ten to fifteen guests. Breakfast is served on the terrace watched over by a statue of 'Diana the huntress'.

Table d'Hôtes is available upon request or the owners can guide you to the best of local restaurants.

Chavagnac is the perfect base from which to explore the diverse treasures of the region:

The property is in the heart of Rhône wine country, ideally placed for enjoying wine-tasting and enjoying the vineyards and caves of St Joseph, Hermitage, Crozes Hermitages, St Peray, Côtes du Rhône and other appellations.

Perched on the edge of the rolling hills and the spectacular landscapes of the Ardèche, with an abundant choice of country walks and other outdoor pursuits.

Within 15 minutes of the motorway to the south, we are at the gateway to Provence and the Côte D'Azur. An ideal staging post for those driving south, also within easy reach of the A7.

House Parties

Come at any time of the year and fill the Château with your family or friends (6 – 10 people in the house and extra accommodation in the gîtes) for an extended weekend.

Log fires in winter.

Walks and picnics in the garden in the summer.

We can provide all meals – or none – as you require

How To Get To Lemps in Ardèche, The Rhone Alps (SE France)

How to get here: 15 minutes from the Autoroute du Soleil (A7); leave at junction 13 for Tain l'Hermitage / Tournon (about 80 km south of Lyon). Cross the bridge from Tain to Tournon and take the D532 towards St Félicien, St Victor and Lemps; Château Chavagnac is 400m on the right after you pass through the small hamlet of Lubac.
