This beautiful Quercy stone barn has been lovingly restored and sympathetically converted to form luxurious accommodation which can be arranged either as 2 completely self contained cottages sleeping 4 or 6 people, or as a single unit sleeping up to 10 people. All equipment and fittings are of a high standard with attention paid to fine details and extreme care has been taken to provide the necessities for a comfortable and relaxing French holiday. The majority of the windows face the pool area with its attractive lawns and flower beds, with fields and woods beyond.

The stone barn is set in the middle of 11 acres of fields and woods in this beautiful rural area.

Swim in the large pool, stroll in the grounds, play tennis or golf locally, explore the nearby medieval villages and sample the area's specially produced wine, cheese, foie gras, duck, or search for a bargain in the many flea markets and fairs - do as much or as little as you wish.

A totally private driveway leads down one side of the property to a gravel car parking and clothes drying area, with space to play boules . Here there is a large field offering space for badminton (equipment provided) or ball games. The large (14 x 6 metres) swimming pool is run on a saltwater filter system, providing clear, clean water without the concern caused by chlorine systems. Sunloungers, cushions, parasols and tables are all provided, and excellent quality pool towels are included.

The English owners make the booking process easy and are on hand to answer any questions you might have but also respect that this is your holiday so will give you complete privavcy. They will manage the changeover, swimming pool and grounds, ensuring your needs are met without intrusion.

The sitting/dining room and kitchen

Entrance is through double glass doors leading from a large terrace (dining table, chairs and parasol) at the side of the barn into:

• A long sitting and dining area with log burner, DVD, video player and monitor. At one end of this room is
• A fitted kitchen area, well-equipped with gas hob and oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave oven. Next to this area is a door leading to
• Shower room/laundry, containing a large shower unit, WC and hand basin, and washing machine. Easy-rise oak stairs lead up to the first floor which has
• 1 double bedroom with ensuite facilities of shower, WC, hand basin.
• 1 kingsize bedroom (which can be twin on request).
• A further large twin bedroom. All 3 bedrooms have ample wardrobe and drawer space.

About the location

It is only 7 km from the magnificent hilltop medieval village of Lauzerte with its shops, restaurants, cafes and market, providing a truly idyllic haven for a relaxing holiday. It is situated 25 minutes from Moissac (a lovely small town on the Tarn) between Cahors, Agen and Villeneuve-sur-Lot and 1 1/4 hours from Toulouse.

Nearest airports are Toulouse (about 90 kms, 1 1/4hours drive) or Bergerac  about 85Kms, 1 hour drive. Carcassone and Bordeaux are about 2 hours drive and all are reachable by major autoroutes.

The property is situated 45 minutes drive via scenic lanes from each of the large towns of Cahors, Villeneuve, and Agen, giving many sightseeing/shopping opportunities, but only about 7km from the nearest 2 villages which both have supermarkets, shops, cafes, restaurants, weekly markets, doctors, dentists, etc.

We are about 2 ½ hours drive from the Mediterranean or the Atlantic coasts, and about 3 hours from Andorra (very cheap shopping) and the Pyrenees (skiing). Many of our guests spend one or two of their days in Spain as Barcelona is easily reached by motorway (about 4 hours).

From May to September there are many fairs and festivals in all the local villages and towns - from flower markets and wine tastings to boules tournaments - giving a varied insight into life in rural France.

Eating out is very reasonably priced and there are a large number of local restaurants and street cafes of all levels and different types of cuisine.

The area is famous for its 'bastides' which are hilltop fortified towns, some built by the French and some by the English when part of the area was English-owned, and the beautiful Quercy stone architecture. Lauzerte itself originally dates from the 1st century AD and has officially been named one of the most beautiful villages in France.
