Home description

Limort is a peaceful rural hamlet ideally situated close to the small towns of Sauze Vaussais, Chef Boutonne and Melle. The area is great for walking and cycling and is nestled in the heart of the countryside amidst fields of sunflowers and a great variety of wildlife. There are lots of traditional villages and market towns in the area. Melle has some very fine restaurants and cafes.

This large traditional French house has been tastefully restored retaining all of its original features. The house is fully centrally heated and offers excellent and spacious accommodation.

The house and grounds are set on a large open site  with plenty of trees and green areas.

The recreation area consists of a 12 x 6 metre pool ( May - October) which has been designed for both swimming and playing. A large French stone barn adjoins the pool area  where there is table tennis and  basketball.There is also swingball, barbecue( charcoal / gas) and ample outdoor seating. The recreation area is floodlit for outdoor evening entertaining. There is a play area which includes two swings, a see-saw and a sand pit.

About the location

A sixty minute drive west will take you to the coastal resort of La Rochelle, famed for its magnificent beaches, sixty minutes drive south will take you to the lovely town of Cognac, famed for its brandy distilleries.

There are many weekly markets in nearby towns eg Lezay, Sauze-Vaussais and the Saturday market in Chef Boutonne. The town of Melle has a choice of restaurants. There is daily delivery of fresh bread and patisseries through Limort. The town of Sauze-Vaussais has a very large Super-U supermarket, this is about a 10mins drive. The area is ideal for walking and cycling.

How to get here

The house can be easily reached within a 5 to 6 hour drive from any of the Channel Ports. It is less than a one hour drive from Poitiers Airport and just over one hour from La Rochelle Airport.
