A selection of charming accommodation with heated swimming pool nestled in the heart of the village of Fouqueure near Aigre, deep in the South West Charente region of France. La Couronne offers calm and relaxing surroundings within strolling distance of the local bakery, épicerie and bar. The accommodation has all been lovingly restored to blend traditional style with modern convenience.

The properties all have individual garden areas/ terraces for those wishing to eat al fresco and In the cool interior of each house soft comfy sofas provide the ideal place for that afternoon siesta.

The heated swimming pool (maintains an average temperature of 28 degrees throughout the summer) is surrounded by a pretty walled garden with a large stone barbecue and terraced area for those late evening cookouts. The summer weather in the Charente, an area renowned for endless hours of sunshine, will ensure that you find plenty of time to relax and soak up some rays.La Couronne has been designed with children in mind. The swimming pool is fenced, gated and also has a pool alarm for additional safety. The swimming pool is heated and is perfect for children who generally do not enjoy swimming in cold pools!

There is a communal garden adjacent to the swimming pool with plenty of space for ball games, badminton, giant garden snakes and ladders etc.. and a playhouse and seesaw for toddlers. There is also a large BBQ terrace with garden furniture as well as a marquee to relax under in the shade. For older children, there is a huge games room with table football, table tennis, darts,pool table, swing ball, petanque, quoits and many more games to keep everyone entertained. With the Charente river just a 5 minute drive away, those looking to catch their supper are catered for, as fishing equipment is provided free of charge (subject to availability). Our fitness area (exercise machines, free weights etc) is sure to appeal to those looking to keep in trim whilst on holiday and there are also 6 bikes to hire (subject to avail) for the more energetic.

La Ferme – Sleeps 9 to 10:

• Lounge/Dining Area with exposed beams and open log fireplace
• 2 double bedrooms
• 2 twin bedrooms
• 1 single bedroom
• 1 sofa bed for one person in an alcove under the eaves if house is at full capacity.
• Bathroom with bath, wall shower and double basins
• Shower room with shower, basin and wc
• Separate toilet
• 2 outdoor areas (open terrace and enclosed private garden) with patio furniture.

About the location

The rolling countryside surrounding Fouquere, ideal for cycling and walking, is dotted with vineyards and distilleries producing the local speciality... brandy! With a selection of tours to suit all tastes, you are sure to come across some famous names such as Hennessey, Courvoisier, Remy Martin and Hine.

Activities in this region are as varied as the landscape, market towns and traditional villages offer plenty of scope to soak up the culture, haggle at the local markets, shop and immerse yourself in the French way of life. For the energetic and younger members of your group, day trips are abundant, Futuroscope theme park, Nautilus waterpark and slides, inland beaches and lakes, the beautiful seaside town of La Rochelle, the valley of the monkeys, Aquariums, Museums, Chateaux, horse riding, canoeing and much, much more...! At the northern end of the Cognac region, La Couronne makes an ideal base for exploring one of France's best-kept secrets!

How To Find Us

La Couronne is located in the heart of the rural village of Fouqueure and is an ideal base from which to explore the Cognac region. Situated 8 km from the N10, between Poiters and Angouleme, the nearest towns are: Aigre (5 km), Mansle (8km), Rouillac (15km) Ruffec (23km) and Cognac (35km).

By Road - Contact us for route suggestions from all channel ports. Journey time depending on port is approximately 5 to 7 hours.

By Rail - TGV services to Poitiers/Angouleme, connect with Eurostar services from London (via Lille or Paris) Journey time is approximately 5 hours from Calais. Car hire is available from Poitiers or Angouleme.

By Air - Ryanair operates a daily service from London Stanstead to, Poitiers, Limoges, Angouleme and La Rochelle. British Airways also operate daily services from Heathrow and other UK Airports into Bordeaux. Car hire is available from all airports.

Please note if not coming by car from the UK, car hire is essential for La Couronne to get the most out of the area.

Additional price information

• All prices are in £ Sterling and are per property, per week booked.
• Bed Linen, electricity, water and gas are included in our price.
• All property rental weeks run from Saturday to Saturday.
• A security deposit is payable on each property with the final balance in £ Sterling.
• A 30% deposit  is required to secure a booking
• Full payment is due 9 weeks before departure
• Heating available at an additional charge from 1st October to the end of March. Must be requested and confirmed upon booking
• Minimum 2 weeks bookings only during July and August
