Home description

Macret is a farmhouse situated in a small hamlet, just 3kms from the village of Thourie and is excellently situated for touring this particularly historic and beautiful area of France. Set in approximately half an acre of secluded tranquil countryside, the three bedroom house will comfortably accommodate 6 - 7 people. The house is within easy reach of the ports of St Malo, Caen, Cherbourg and Roscoff.

The owners live in the adjacent property, but the gite is very private. The pool is shared with the owners but private time can be arranged.

Ground Floor

• Kitchen/diner - large and well equipped with gas cooker, fridge, microwave and washing machine. All sockets are english.  French windows lead out via steps to a sunny patio.
• Lounge - cosy family room with wood burning stove, seats six comfortably, TV/DVD/Video Player, stereo CD player.

First Floor

Open stairway leads to

• Bedroom 1 - has two single beds
• Bedroom 2 - has a king size bed with an ensuite
• Bedroom 3 - has a king size bed
• Bathroom with a shower and toilet

Cott and high chair available on request.

Grounds

To the front, the house has an enclosed courtyard. To the rear, there is a patio as described above, equipped with a barbecue. There is a grassy area with table, chairs and sun loungers for al fresco eating, or just to sit, relax, and enjoy the lovely views of the surrounding countryside.

The pool (10m x 5 m) being salt water is a lovely experience , natural, no chemicals hence no damage to hair or skin and no irritation to eyes. It has Roman steps and is fully secured meeting all French regulations.

About the location

Nearby Thourie is a small village close to a picturesque lake. It boasts only one shop, a tabac with boulangerie, which has the most delicious, 'not to be missed' freshly baked bread. For other facilities, the nearest towns are Martigne Ferchaud 7 km away, and Retiers, 13 km. Retiers being the larger of the two, both of the towns have supermarkets, (the one at Martigne Ferchaud has Sunday opening hours).

Approximately 40 km distant is Rennes, the capital of Britanny, where amongst its cobbled streets you will find a medieval castle, fine architecture, museums, street cafes and restaurants. It also has fine shops and a magnificent Saturday market to enjoy. The famous Mont St. Michel is less than 2 hours drive away, also within easy reach is La Baule, with its 7 km of beaches, and Morbihan, with its lovely scenery and beaches.

With its pleasant location and spacious accommodation, farmhouse Macret offers an ideal base from which to explore, and enjoy a relaxing holiday.
