La Roulais stands in 25 acres of private parkland close to the forest of Juigné and 10 km from the local market town of Chateaubriant. Located in the picturesque region of the Loire Atlantique, midway between the cathedral cities of Rennes, Angers and Nantes.

The property is ideally situated in a central location for either visiting quiet sandy beaches, coastal resorts or major towns and cities. Elegant shops, fine restaurants, historical attractions and the famous Loire Valley are all close to hand.

The beauty of staying in chambres d'hôtes is that you can totally relax and enjoy your holiday, without the hassle of catering or cleaning. Tables d'hôtes gives you the additional option of dining 'chez-nous' or visiting the numerous local restaurants.

La Roulais offers a range of three en-suite, ground floor, centrally heated rooms, plus a centrally heated twin room on the first floor which is available for use in conjunction with the Master-suite.

Tables d'Hôtes

The dining-room provides a lovely setting for the wonderful continental style breakfasts – cereals, croissants, French breads, local jams, orange juice, tea, coffee or chocolate which are all included in the price of the room. (full English breakfast can be provided at a small surcharge).

A buffet style lunch can also be provided in the dining-room, on the house patio or by the pool. For a lighter lunch you may choose a baguette style sandwich. A picnic lunch to take out for the day can also be ordered.

A four course dinner with coffee is also available. A children's menu is offered for those 10 and under. A fully liscensed bar is available for apperitifs and a selection of fine wines.

Vegetarian meals or other dietary needs can be catered for, also special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries etc. Please fill in the appropriate section on the booking form.

In essence, we will cater for whatever your culinary need, including special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries.

Outside - If your holiday is about relaxation La Roulais has its own heated swimming pool, 12m by 6m and heated to a temperature of 28 degrees. The pool has its own sun terrace with sun loungers, a garden area, and is fully enclosed for safety. It is open mid-April to mid-October October (weather permitting). There is also a well equipped play area for children, with swings, slide, see-saw, trampoline and sand-pit and for the older ones, table tennis, badminton and volley ball.

Master bedroom

Master Suite is a spacious south facing room with:

• One double bed and one single bed, ideal for families with a young child, or for ultimate comfort for a couple.
• Tea/coffee making facilities and colour TV.
• French patio doors from the bedroom allows private access.
• The large bathroom is fully tiled with twin washbasins, shaving- socket, bath, shower and wc.

About the location

• Nantes – capital of the Pays de la Loire. A dynamic port on one of the loveliest rivers in France, the Erdre, brimming with gardens and parks, chateaux and manor houses.
• La Baule – 9 km of wonderful, long sandy beaches, seafood restaurants - where mussels and oysters are a must.
• Angers – capital of Anjou and gateway to the Loire Valley - a region recently designated as a World Heritage Site. Angers has all the best aspects of French culture, charming chateaux and famous wines. Cointreau liqueur has been made in Angers since 1849.
• Saumur – home of the National Riding School and the famous Cadre Noir. Saumur boasts no fewer than 54 national monuments. Home to Saumurs’ famous sparkling wine.
• Rennes – capital of Brittany. Devastated by fire in 1720, modern Rennes is built around an historic core and boasts smart shops, fine restaurants, museums etc.
• Le Mans – famous for its 24 hour motor race and museum.

How to get here

The property is within easy reach of the ferry ports of St.Malo (1.5 hours) Cherbourg (3.5 hours) and Caen (3 hours). Nantes, Angers and Rennes have their own airports and are each under an hour away. Flights from Stansted to Dinard, (1.5hours) are also popular. Car hire is available at all airports.
