Old Restored Breton House with Pool
The Cider House, La Noe has a 3.5 x 7 m pool and is in a tranquil setting just 5 minutes from Mohon and the boulangerie and village shop. From here a 10 minute drive through the forest brings you to Josselin with its river and magnificent Chateau still in the Rohan family after 600 years.
The larger, busier town of Ploermel is 20 minutes by car and has a cinema, golf course and plenty of shops. Nearby is a huge lake with a cafe, water sports, and you can swim from a sandy beach. Typical French cafes, restaurants and street markets in both towns and many other interesting ancient towns and places of interest including the coasts, within easy reach.
Secure parking for cycles and motorbikes. Wifi available.
Holiday Accommodation at The House Details
The Cider House is very comfortable for 4 people but can sleep 6. It has two double bedrooms, one with en suite WC and washbasin and the other, which is adjacent to the main bathroom, has a double and single bed and an attractive vanity unit.
The front door takes you into the fitted kitchen/dining room, fully equipped for 6 people, with double sink, gas cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, dresser, table and chairs. This room has a typical Breton fireplace, with a wood burner stove, and huge beams support the floor above.
Stairs from the kitchen/dining room lead to a spacious sitting room with two sofas, two easy chairs and small tables. One of the sofas converts to a double bed to provide additional sleeping space if required. The character of the house is once again evident from the robust timbers above and you can either quietly relax or watch videos on the TV. A selection of videos are available but you may wish to bring some of your own.
From the sitting room a small vestibule leads to a bedroom with a double and single bed. This room has a washbasin, bedside lights, chest of drawers, hanging rail, glass door looking out to the garden, exposed roof timbers and a velux window. Opposite the bedroom is the main bathroom with bath, washbasin, WC and velux window. Next to the bathroom is separate shower room with thermostatically controlled mixer taps.
Stairs from the sitting room lead up to the second bedroom which has its own en suite WC and washbasin. This room, which has a double bed, chest of drawers, hanging rail and bedside lights, also has exposed timbers and a velux window.
Both bedrooms have space for a cot if required.
A central ventilation system extracts air from the main bathroom, shower room and the en suite room in the second bedroom. Each room has an electric heater.
From the kitchen a doorway leads to the laundry room providing use of a washing machine and drier. Continuing through to the garden. The 7.5 x 3 metre pool is set in the lawn beside the terrace. Beyond is an open field, with some apple trees, and an original cider press. Ideal for children and games. In all, about an acre.
Garden furniture, loungers and canopy help you relax while table tennis, boules and a couple of cycles provide entertainment for the more energetic . A BBQ enables you to make the most of the long summer evenings.
About Mohon in Morbihan, Brittany
Mohon is situated in central Brittany. It has a boulangerie, good general store, restaurant, bar and bank and is some 7 miles north of the medieval town of Josselin. Josselin has a wonderful Chateau, on the side of the river Oust, and has a Saturday market, two supermarkets plus other shops, bars and restaurants.
The beautiful medieval town of Vannes and the gulf of Morbihan are approximately 35 miles away.
The monoliths at Carnac and the 'artists' town of Pont Aven, where Gaugin once lived, provide superb venues for a leisurely day out. Indeed, the whole area is full of interest. Brittany also offers some wonderful beaches and the southwest and north coasts are easily accessible on roads with little traffic.
