Maison Lavande is a 150 year old property built of Adour river stones. It consists of a pretty village house renovated and equipped to a high standard (La Maison) with 2/3 bedrooms and a charming separate self-contained cottage (La Forge) with 2 bedrooms.

Extensive walled gardens to front and rear with mature shrubs, tall Scots pines and fig, peach, bay, cherry trees plus a covered eating terrace with BBQ and the swimming pool help to create a special atmosphere.

The property is located off a rustic lane in this small village, which is in the valley of the River Adour, where the main crop is maize. Ideally situated for walking and cycling, it is just over an hour's drive to the Pyrenees (e.g. La Mongie) often visible from the property.

Gas bottles, water and electricity are included. Pool towels are not provided.

About the location

Hères is administratively in the very northern tip of the department Hautes-Pyrénées (65) and distanced from the next department of Gers (32) by the river Adour, a kilometre from the house.

 

The cities of Pau (50 mins), Auch (60 mins) and Tarbes (35 mins) offer a variety of cultural and historic points for exploration. Many concerts take place in smaller churches and halls in the area. These will be advertised in local supermarkets and local papers – La Dépêche. The Atlantic coast is 2 hours drive away and a further half hour's motoring would get you to San Sebastian in Spain.

Excellent choice of golf courses within an hour. Water sports. Museum of Jazz at Marciac (18 mins).

How to get here

One hour from Pau Airport with daily flights from London-Stansted. Two hours drive from airports at Biarritz or Bordeaux or Toulouse. Nearest railway station at Tarbes.
