Home description

Kervastard is a renovated stone farmhouse dating back to the early 1800s.  The attached, south-facing, 3-bedroom cottage has been redecorated throughout.  All the rooms are spacious and there is plenty of space in the large, walled garden. 

It is less than one mile to both the local beach and the village of St Jean du Doigt.  The English owners live in the farmhouse and are happy to give you every assistance in getting the most out of your visit to the area, whilst at the same time respecting your need for privacy.

A doorway through the garden wall leads directly to the front of the cottage.

Ground floor

Off the entrance hall is:

• Lounge - with oak, parquet flooring and comfortably furnished.  There is an audio unit, books and games for your entertainment.  The large window looks out onto the walled garden.
• Dining room / kitchen - a large room with an open fireplace.  The dining area has a table with chairs to seat 6 people.  A high chair is available.  The newly fitted kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave, fridge, toaster and coffee machine etc.  A window in the dining area also looks out to the garden.
• Shower room - with hand-basin, shower and washing machine.
• Toilet.

First floor

• Two large separate bedrooms - one furnished with a double bed and duvet, the other with twin beds and duvets. Both bedrooms have views to the garden and surrounding countryside.
• Single bedroom - with a single bed to accommodate a child. (Note: there is no window.) 

All the rooms have electric heating.

Outside

The half-acre garden has been pleasantly landscaped and planted with a variety of colourful shrubs and trees.

Garden furniture comprises: table, chairs, parasol, sun-loungers and a BBQ. There is a large lawn within the boundary wall, which affords security and privacy, for children to play ball games. Here also is space for parking the car.

About the location

It is only a 5 minute drive to the market town of Plougasnou, where you will find a supermarket, post office, pharmacy, numerous shops, cafe/bars and restaurants.  A market is held every Tuesday morning in the square.  A larger market plus a wider choice of shops and supermarkets can be found in Morlaix.  Here, in the old town squares and alleyways you will find many old buildings with carved facades which bear witness to a rich economic past.

This superb spot provides an ideal base from which to tour inland Brittany, and, for the more energetic, it is just a short stroll from the cottage to the coastal path (way marked GR34).  If you are looking for a beach to take the children, the nearest one is just down the hill towards Plougasnou; many others can be found within a short drive.

How to get here

• St Jean is about a 40 minute drive from the port of Roscoff, and 2 hours from St Malo.
• Ryanair fly Stanstead to Dinard - also a 2 hour drive and Luton to Brest(1 hour).
• Flybe also fly to Brest from Exeter, Birmingham, Manchester & Southampton.
