Comfortable Family Apartment plus Double-Bed Maxi Studio, Each Independent and available separately, 10mn Walk from Beach
The property is a detached modern house in a cul-de-sac, in a pleasant and quiet residential area. No traffic problems, one can safely walk in our access road. Everything has been thought out so that you can turn up with nothing but your own clothes and money, to find everything on hand necessary for a wonderful stay . Many of our guests actually lounge around the property all day, trying to find what's missing...
The nearest beach, safe and sandy and entitled to the European Community Blue Flag (meaning clean, pure water), has bars, restaurants, on-site coast-guards, a children's' sailing school, speed-boat tracted paragliding, diving, etc., all of which disappears in the low season, together with the huts, leaving a virgin, sandy coastline. This beach is a (real) leisurely fifteen minute walk through the vineyards (you can even fill your flask with some Rosé from our local AOC Côtes de Provence producer on your way back - or even on your way down, for that matter!).
We now have a comfortable 6m Zodiac RIB, making day trips to remote beaches and coves and along the coast possible.
Within a 15 minute drive there is a very nice sandy naturist beach, hidden away in a little rocky cove surrounded by trees, with a restaurant specialising in charcoal barbecued fish. The crystal clear waters and "ambience" are particularly attractive.
In fact the sheer number of beaches available in the area, together with their different orientations, ensures there is always somewhere protected from any prevailing winds - or facing them, if you like surfing.
We are situated half-way between Nice and Marseilles international airports, which are about one and a half hours' drive from here, and about 25 miles west of St. Tropez. The nearest airport is Toulon (Hyères), a 20mn drive away, with direct flights from Britain (Stansted and, since this year, Bristol and Liverpool), from Holland and Sweden. This varies enormously from year to year, so please check. The IATA code for Hyères airport is "TLN".
Come and enjoy the sunniest micro-climate in France, in a pleasant and calm environment, with all the varied in-season activities you would expect of a quality resort to hand (bars, restaurants, beautiful public gardens, golf, tennis, riding, etc., concerts, boutiques, exhibits, local markets, supermarkets, discos, etc.) ... but over there ... just far away enough to allow you to savour some peace and quiet on your terrace, in the balmy evening air, under a clear diamond-studded sky.
Listen to the cigales ...or the seagulls ... time for relaxation.
A bientôt ! Enjoy - and savour - your "Sejour" in Provence
As many of you come here by 'plane and are therefore quite limited in what you can bring with you, we supply such things as an iron and its' board to uncrease your clothes, hair dryer, iceboxes, beach chairs, parasols, insulated backpacks, snorkels, body boards, etc., to enjoy real beach comfort, and a selection of English& American videos, all at no extra charge. Free ADSL WiFi access, or use of our own desktop.
Included in our prices is linen for two (Studio) or four (Apartment). Beach towels can be provided.
Ample parking is on the gated property, on the same level as the accommodation. There's space enough next to the apartment for 2 cars and a trailer, should you bring a boat or ski-jet with you. If you want a mooring in one of the ports - Bormes or Le Lavandou - , please advise us by the beginning of February at the latest, so that we can try to obtain one for you. After that, there's little hope until the next year.
The proximity of amenities affords you freedom from the hassle of daily car use. A small general shopping facility is 5 minutes' walk away, and usually open from April to October. Supermarkets are open all year round, the nearest of which is 10 minutes away on foot in the local village, together with the post-office and tobacconist / newspaper shop, chemists, etc.
We know the region well and being around a lot of the time, we will gladly offer you any local help or advice should you need it. We've on a number of occasions had to accompany guests to the right specialist, with the right words and obtained the right results, from garages to dentists (but no psychiatrists so far - the stay here seems to fix a lot of things in that respect. Actually it's always a great pleasure for us to see how much more relaxed - often beaming - people look after a few days here).
Local up-to-the-minute information has meant that we have helped guests avoid a pending transport strike they knew nothing about (why should they, they are on holiday), ensuring they could attend an important meeting on another continent (it so happens the strike was averted at the last minute, but at least we helped work out an alternative).
Above all, if you need us, we are on site and we care to help you enjoy your stay.
Holiday Accommodation at Apartment
A pleasantly spacious apartment (sleeps up to 6 with children), you'll be delighted by the size, airiness and general pleasure your independent holiday home will give you. It has its own independent entrance and generously sized terrace, and access to the garden.
The Apartment has 2 bedrooms, one King-size double with en-suite shower/WC, the other with a double sofa-bed (the more comfortable type). There is a separate bunk-bed area for 2 children (or 2 lithe adults), a separate wash / shower / WC. A comfortable fold-up bed or 2 are possible. TV & video are provided. The kitchen is equipped with a 'fridge-freezer, a quad electric hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, toaster, kettle, etc., and a spacious living / dining area for up to 6 people (see the photos).
Quite a number of guests are surprised at the comprehensiveness of the level of equipment and no one has yet found anything missing (luckily nor have we, so far .. !)
The generous terrace is private, equipped with roller blinds, and thus affords protection from the sun for early morning breakfast, comfortable al fresco meals, or afternoon siestas. Electric Plancha, a table and seating for up to 8 people, sunbeds and a bench make life on the terrace pleasant.
The apartment is equipped with wall-mounted, remote-controlled and mobile fans, providing a gentle breeze on hot windless days (it's surprising how many people who come here don't go out much: they seem to like to bask in the peaceful comfort, away from the crowds).
There is a barbecue and an outdoor shower, to get all that salt and sand off your equipment and yourselves after returning from the beach, or just to cool down while sunning on the terrace.
About La Favière in Var, Provence - Cote d'Azur
Comfortably situated within easy reach of the sea, yet away from the high-season hustle and bustle of town, you might, for a change from your normal resort activities, wish to enjoy a leisurely stroll along the private and natural hillside at the foot of which stands our home. At its summit, a breath-taking panoramic view of the surrounding wild countryside awaits you, including Cap Bénat, the hill-perched medieval village of Bormes-les-Mimosas (which is very similar to the lovely town of Fayence), the ports of Le Lavandou and Bormes, the islands (there is a regular all year round boat service) of Port Cros, Ile du Levant and Porquerolles. Absolutely beautiful in the Spring, and a must on July 13th and 14th, when firework displays can be seen lighting up the coast from Toulon to St. Tropez !
Well indicated coastal walks are plentiful, from here to Cap Nègre to the east, around Cap Benat to the west, allowing you to access otherwise unreachable beaches and views you normally only see on picture-postcards.
The colours, light and vibes during the off-season have inspired the reflexion of generations of creative people, and I must say that the two of us are awed by the often spectacular sunrises that greet us on the terrace, enticing one to get up early to enjoy the birth of a new day, as the sun rises over the horizon and warms the very soul.
With very little concrete about, unlike towards Nice, Cannes and Marseille, the rugged coast-line has for once been well preserved, and the local authorities seem to want to keep it that way. The local flora is quite magnificent, with mimosa flowering from November onwards, and is especially good from February 'till June, and then again from September, as different plants come alive again (with generally still good temperatures and many less tourists to share it all with). We've known quite a number of wonderful Decembers and New Years, with lunch outdoors in T-shirts, but there's of course no guarantee (especially with the recent global weather changes). The sheer number of coves around here, protecting one from the main winds, mean that it is no exception to bathe comfortably in the Med in October.
Bormes has a wonderful flower festival, called Corso Fleuri, usually on the 3rd Sunday in February, with a multitude of beautifully decorated floats slowly meandering along narrow, twisty, medieval roads, and music and dancing in the streets. This pageant ends with the floats gradually being stripped, as the flowers are thrown out to the public. A week or two later, the same thing happens in the nearby town of Le Lavandou, and in various other towns in the region.
