19th Century Stone Farmhouse, near St.Emilion, with Pool

Situated in the heart of the Dordogne countryside, in a quiet hamlet on the outskirts of a small unspoilt village (Villefranche de Lonchat) 50 minutes easy drive east of Bordeaux Airport, 40 minutes from Bergerac airport;  30 minutes from the TGV mainline railway at Libourne and within 25 minutes of some of the world's most renowned vineyards - St. Emilion, Pomerol, Bergerac - 90 minutes from the beaches and oysters of beautiful Arcachon and Lacanau - We are ideally situated to explore this beautiful area of France.

This property also benefits from a private swimming pool and a large grassy orchard.

Holiday Accommodation at Les Vignobles

Ours is a sympathetically restored, 19^th century stone-built farmhouse in a quiet rural setting, surrounded by farmland and vineyards. It is attractively furnished with a pleasant mix of French country antiques and modern comforts - Including hairdryers, towels, washing machine, microwave, CD and cassette player and French T.V,VCR and DVD player (for use with clients' own videos/DVD's.). 

All rooms overlook the south-west-facing private garden and child safe swimming pool. A well-equipped kitchen/breakfast room leads through to a sunny living room, comfortably furnished with several armchairs and a big sofa*. The ambiance is one of cosy comfort for the cooler early summer evenings, enhanced by the original ceiling beams, the exposed stone walls and a large traditional fireplace with a wood-burning stove. However, the fully tiled floors throughout and the thickness of the old stone walls, also help to maintain a welcome coolness in the heat of those hot summer days during late July and August.

* also available if required are a child-sized activities-table and chairs.

Ground Floor

From the living room, a corridor leads to the ground floor guest wing comprising:

• A twin bedroom with 2 single beds (traditional beds but modern comfort)
• A twin bedroom with 2 comfortable wider single beds. (A walnut wood "Lit Bateau" and an iron/brass bedstead).
• A spacious well-finished bathroom with Bath/Shower, double wash-basins, bidet and WC.
• A second separate WC.

Upstairs

From the kitchen/breakfast room is a staircase leading upstairs:

• 1 double bedroom
• 1 single bedroom (with an extra child sized-folding bed if needed)
• A second single bedroom communicating with previous single bedroom.
• A modern shower room with WC, bidet and wash-basin.

-  NO LUMPS!!    Our beds have comfortable mattresses and box springs, set on restored period  bedsteads.

- ELECTRIC FANS in all bedrooms.

Bed Linen: At no extra cost, we provide good quality, freshly laundered bed linen and towels and have the beds made up ready for you - a welcome relief on arrival after a long journey and saving an appreciable amount of space in your luggage. Pillows and Blankets or Duvets (according to the season) are provided for all beds.

Babies: We are well equipped for young families and are happy to provide the following at no extra charge. Just let us know before you arrive, which of the following items you require. 2 folding baby cots, 2 highchairs, a potty, waterproof mattress covers, playpen.

About Minzac in Dordogne, Aquitaine

Climate:

The weather is generally mild, and we are regularly blessed with more than our fair share of sunshine hours! Warm days (18 degrees C +) begin from mid-April and our outdoor swimming pool is usually up and running by the beginning of May. In summer the Dordogne benefits from mediterranean temperatures lasting throughout the summer, particularly July and August when temperatures have been known to sizzle up well into the 30's centigrade +.

Unlike areas further south - thanks to plentiful winter rainfall and the occasional spectacular summer thunder storm, the Dordogne countryside is lush and green. May, June and September are ideal months for touring and sight-seeing - the weather is very pleasant (swimming and sunbathing is also possible) and the places of interest are still relatively quiet. The mild weather can last through to October, when it is frequently still warm enough to enjoy lunch "al fresco"!
