Five Périgourdine Cottages, 2 Pools and Tennis

Domain Le Repaire (French for "pirates nest") consists of 5 lovely stone cottages lying in the shadow of the owner's 18th Century manor house in 5 acres of wooded parkland. 

A lovely valley borders Le Repaire, 1.5 miles from the village of Mareuil and halfway between the historic cities of Angoulême and Périgueux.

The 5 separate self-contained cottages are situated in a hilltop hamlet and sleep all together up to 24 persons. Facilities include two on-site swimming pools, tennis court, volleyball and a children's play area. Le Repaire offers tranquillity, privacy and a save setting for children. Its situation and surroundings guarantee a truly peaceful and relaxing holiday.

Accommodation

All the cottages are spacious and comfortable chalk stone farmhouses that have been restored in the typical Périgourdine style with many original features like open fireplaces, heavily beamed rooms and exposed stonework.

Their situation and the shared facilities make Le Repaire ideal for holidays of families with children. Moreover, renting more cottages at the same time opens the possibility to accommodate larger groups of relatives and/or friends, enabling you to 'holiday-apart-together'.

Le Repaire is also open to receive guests in the off-season. Some of the cottages are named after neighboring rivers. Chez Mimi carries the name of a French resistance group that went into hiding in the adjacent manor in 1944.

Facilities per cottage

  • Own terrace and garden; barbecue and garden furniture are available.
  • Linen and bath towels (no swimming towels); we provide new towels every week.
  • All kitchens are well equipped and contain all the essentials like oven, fridge, washing machine, the necessary kitchen utensils and ironing board.

Shared facilities

  • 12 x 6 metre illuminated swimming pool with shower, shaded terrace, sun loungers, tables and chairs.
  • 3 x 4 metre children's pool.
  • Tennis court.
  • Table tennis.
  • Volleyball/badminton area.
  • Children's play area with sandpit, swings and slides.

Holiday Accommodation at La Belle

This beautiful, authentic cottage has been recently restored and offers a lot of light, space and comfort.

Ground floor

La Belle is specially suited for disabled people and has therefore special facilities on the ground flour including no threshold.

  • Kitchen / living / dining room - a very spacious room with stone fireplace and annex kitchen, dining area.
  • Bathroom - spacious room with anti skid shower (with special shower chair), a high toilet (with arm supports) and a washing cabinet suited for wheel chairs.
  • Bedroom 1 - this is next to the bathroom and has a double and single bed and its own entrance to the terrace (accessible for wheelchairs).

First floor

  • Bedroom 2 - spacious double bedroom
  • Bedroom 3 - a twin bedroom
  • Bathroom - with bath/shower and toilet.

This cottage is also specially equipped for stays during off-season periods.

About Mareuil in Dordogne, Aquitaine

Le Repaire is situated in the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional Périgord-Limousin in the Département Dordogne which is known for its beautiful scenery, many castles and prehistoric remains.

How To Get To Mareuil in Dordogne, South West France

1.      Take the A16/E402 via Boulogne-sur-Merre to Abbeville
2.      Then continue on the A28 via Rouen, Alençon, Le Mans to Tours
3.      At Tours take the Autoroute l’Acquitaine A10/E5 direction Poitiers
4.    At the exit Poitiers-Sud (exit 30) take the N10/E3  direction Angoulême
5.    Just before Angoulême, continue on the N10 direction Bordeaux
6.    Take exit indicating Angoulême/Libourne (D699) and follow signs Périgueux/Soyaux (D100 Rocade Est)
7.    At last roundabout take the D939 to Périgueux
8.    Halfway between Angoulême and Périgueux take the first exit to Mareuil-Centre
9.    Entering Mareuil take the 1st street right and 2nd street left, pass the Spar and cross the Rue Pierre Degail
10.  Follow Rue du Repaire into the countryside and continue for 2,5 km, arrving in Le  Repaire. After a sharp turn left continue straight on to our manor.

Additional price information

  • The use of gas, water and electricity is included in the letting cost.
  • End of stay cleaning is also included, if the cottages are left in a clean condition
  • Special rates for longer letting periods are negotiable
  • The minimum stay is one week. Please reserve well in advance, should you like to reserve  for 2 weeks or more cottages
  • Change-over day for La Belle is on Saturdays
  • For each extra guest above the number indicated per cottage a moderate surcharge is payable, which will be included in the total rental cost (children up to 2 years old can stay for free)
  • During the period of October till May heating cost are payable at € 10 per day.
