Home description

The owners home, together with the cottage and two gîtes, are tucked away in a fold in the gently rolling countryside, set in 40 acres of a tranquil wooded valley on the banks of the River Dive, less than a mile from the village of Voulon. An idyllic location for a holiday in South West France.

All accommodation has barbecues, table and chairs and working log fires backed-up by central heating for the winter months.

Walking holidays in unexplored rural France

The beautiful home is situated in 40 acres of gently rolling countryside alongside the River Dive, in the second sunniest region of France.

This area is rich in wildlife, red squirrels, hares, deer, many varieties of birds including Black Woodpeckers and Hen Harriers, butterflies including Swallowtails and Hairstreaks, have been seen in our gardens and fields and fish and coypu are abundant in the river.

You will walk along quiet grassy paths and tracks and by gently bubbling rivers, passing local fisherman. During the summer months fields abound with sunflowers, tobacco and maize, whilst in the gardens of small hamlets, owners tend their vegetable patches and grow a wide variety of flowers.

Within the price of your holiday, you will receive:

• Collection to and from Poitiers station or airport.
• Guided walks to suit all ages and abilities, full days, half days, whatever takes your fancy.
• 7 nights accommodation in our very comfortably furnished cottage, gîtes or in our own house if you prefer.
• A continental breakfast, packed lunch and a 4 course evening meal with wine.( eggs are always available as long as the hens are behaving themselves )
• Use of the heated swimming pool, May - September.
• The option of a days sightseeing/shopping in Poitiers, with transport provided.

About the location

Poitou-Charentes is the second sunniest region of France in an area of varied scenery, steeped in history and legends. Futuroscope, Chateau of Eagles, City of Writing, Snake Island, Monkey Valley, Green Venice and activity centres are all within easy reach. The towns of Angouleme, Limoges, Cognac, Poitiers and on the coast, La Rochelle, are ideal for daily excursions.

Voulon is a small village, with tabac/bar, in the south of the Vienne, close to the borders of Charente and Deux Sevres. It is 7km from the small towns of Couhe and Vivonne with supermarkets and restaurants and only 5mins drive from the N10.
