"Carpe Diem" is to be found on a quiet country lane leading to the hamlet of La Chapelle about 3 km above and NW of the country village of St. Cyprien, overlooking the Dordogne valley. A wonderful tranquil rural area of France where there is time to unwind and relax by the pool with a glass of wine or enjoy the countryside with its many beauty-spots.  

The location provides an excellent position for sight-seeing day-trips and visits to the vineyards of the Bergerac/St. Emilion/Bordeaux areas.

The gite is comfortable and well appointed throughout and offers the following:

• 1 large double bedroom - one double bed and one fold up bed
• 1 large twin bedroom - 2 twin bed and one fold up bed
• Bathroom - with shower and washbasin
• Separate toilet
• Extra bed/cot and high chair available on request

About the location

The colourful village of St. Cyprien has a very busy market on Sundays, not be missed, plus supermarkets and boulangeries.  A good variety of restaurants and bars are to be found in the vicinity.

West of St. Cyprien (at 10 km) is the small market town of Le Bugue on the Vezere river.  East of St. Cyprien, a beautiful drive along the Dordogne river (10 km) takes you to the chateaux of Castelnaud and Beynac and the picturesque village of Domme (15 km) perched high on the South bank of the Dordogne providing fascinating views of a large area of the Dordogne valley.   A little further North the very well kept medieval town of Sarlat with its historic center is also 'a must'.

North of La Chapelle (at 7 km) is Les Eyzies with prehistoric caves and their murals.  The whole area around St. Cyprien is full of delightful beauty spots, castles and prehistoric sites.

How to get here

There are several ferries from the UK to different ports in France and for your convenience we have tried to summarize how to get to us by car from these major ports. From St Malo to St. Cyprien take the N137 · From Nantes to Niort take the A83 · From Niort to St André de Cubzac take A10 (direction Bordeaux) · From St André de Cubzac to Libourne take the A670. From Libourne to Perigueux take the E70 · From Perigueux to Le Bugue/St. Cyprien take the D10. In Le Bugue turn left onto the D703 towards Campagne - in Campagne carry straight on the D35, after about 4.5 km you are almost on top of the hillside, turn right towards La Chapelle.

From Caen to St. Cyprien · From Caen to Rennes take the N175 · From Rennes to Nantes take the N137 · From Nantes continue as above (Approx. driving time 9hrs)

From Calais to St. Cyprien · From Calais to Paris take the A16 (via Abbeville) or the A26 (via Arras) · From Paris to Orléans take the A10/E5 · From Orléans to Brive take the A20/E9 (via Chateauroux, Limoges ) · 

From Brive take the N89 direction Terrason/Perigueux.  At Le Lardin St. Lazare take the D704 to Montignac/Sarlat.  At Montignac carry straight on to the D706, direction Les Eyzies - this bit is quite windy along the Vezere river.  

Just before Les Eyzies you turn left onto the D47 (dir. Sarlat) for only 300 metres - turn right onto the D48.  At the intersection with the D35 turn right (dir. Campagne/Le Bugue) after 2.5 km turn left towards La Chapelle.  We are the first house on your left with lanterns on the gate pillars.  Welcome to "Carpe Diem"
