Available separately or together, charming house and converted barn with pool (20 metres from both) in large enclosed garden on edge of village, 2 minute walk from the picturesque arcaded square of the quiet, perfectly preserved mediaeval village of La Bastide d’Armagnac. Property sleeps up to 15 adults in all, with additional space for smaller children in mezzanine galleries and attic room.  Bed linen provided.

No smoking indoors in either property.

The village has a restaurant; a crêperie;  a good baker/patisserie; small general shop; pharmacy; craft and antique shops; bar; home-made ice-cream parlour July-August; at least 5 armagnac producers; a tennis court; the Museum of the Bastides; occasional local produce stalls; and a doctor’s surgery.  Mont de Marsan is a 25-minute drive.  

 Available for both  house and barn to share: large garden with summer house and varied play areas; swimming pool 12m x 6m with wide steps and large shallow end (deep end 3m deep), equipped with safety alarm; barbecue, cot, high chair, ping pong table, croquet, 6 adult bicycles + 3 smaller ones, tumble dryer.

Suitability:  no smoking indoors in either property; bathrooms and most bedrooms on ground floor in each property, but not fully wheelchair accessible..

The house and barn are available to let together, or separately, and provide perfect accommodation for two or three families holidaying together.  For full details of facilities in each property, read each section.  
 

About the location

Our property on the edge of this charming mediaeval village is only two minutes from the central square. There's a  baker, bar, shop, pharmacy and doctor, and various local artists & craftsmen. On the square 2 minutes from our property are a restaurant and a creperie, plus an ice-cream bar in July & August, with delicious homemade ices and sorbets. Stalls selling local produce and crafts appear in the square summer Sundays and some weekdays, with a monthly special 'marche du pays'. There are local village and town markets within 20-30 minutes drive most days of the week. About once a month in the summer, there are performances of plays, music and other cultural events in the square.

Last weekend in October - lively & fascinating 2 day Armagnac en fete festival.

Canoeing in Roquefort (10 km)
Golf and riding – approx 20km
Atlantic coast – approx 1 hr 15 mins drive
Pyrenees – approx 1 hr 30 min drive

Visits to vineyards - Graves, Sauternes, Madiran, Cotes de Gascogne within 1 hour drive.

How to get here

Nearest airports  Pau (1 hr drive); Bordeaux and Biarritz  (each 1 1/2 hrs); and Bergerac (2hrs).   Nearest ferries:  UK-Santander (5 hr drive); UK - St Malo (6hrs) ; UK - Caen 7 1/2  hours;  

Trains from Bordeaux to Dax, Marmande, Morcenz or Mont de Marsan

Suitability; The main living space, the terrace, main bedroom and bunk-bedded room, bathroom and loo are all on one level, but are not fully technically wheelchair accessible - please ask for more information if this may be an issue for you or your guests.
