These two lovely holiday cottages, in an ancient stone-built farm hamlet surrounded by seven acres of its own grassland, offer quality accommodation in an enchanting rural setting, just over the borders of both Normandy and Brittany. La Locherie is easily reached from the channel ports and is less than an hour's drive from sandy beaches.

Accommodation detail

This old barn and stable has been lovingly restored into a charming holiday home, equipped to exacting modern standards while still retaining its original character. The star attraction is the balcony, through the old granary door of the main bedroom, where you can bask in the sun and look out over stunning countryside by day and enjoy a nightcap under the breathtaking stars after dark.

Ground Floor:

• Kitchen - equipped with washing machine, full sized cooker with electric fan oven and gas and electric hob, microwave and everything needed to conjure up a delicious meal from local produce. There are even recipe books. If you prefer to cook outside, a barbecue is available.
• Lounge - is beautifully furnished, with two sofas, cast iron wood burning stove and easily controlled electric heaters. There's a DVD player, CD player, radio and a choice of DVDs, CDs and books to keep you entertained.

First Floor:

• Two double bedrooms - are well equipped, and bed linen and towels are included within the rental price.
• Modern bathroom - with bath,shower and heated towel rail, is also upstairs.

Games players can take advantage of table tennis as well as the boules, darts and badminton sets.

About the location

They are just four miles from Pontmain, the second most important place of pilgrimage in France, after Lourdes, and within easy reach of the eighth wonder of the world, Mont St Michel and the Normandy landing beaches. There are several more important war sites nearby, including a poignant American cemetery at St James.

There are rich opportunities for sightseeing, a market for every day of the week, fine restaurants and a wealth of good shops with great prices. We provide a comprehensive information pack and guide to the region, which has received consistent praise from our guests.

Additional price information

• All prices are per gîte, per week, from 4pm Saturday to 10 am the following Saturday. Please note that school holiday weeks are charged at a higher rate.
• Reduced rates available for longer lets, or less than a week in low season, please contact us.
• Rental charges include reasonable electricity and wood usage, all towels and bedding and a welcome pack. Bottled gas is provided for the cooker and guests are asked to replace this if it runs out during their stay.
• Deposit amount is 25% of total rental cost and is due at time of booking. Final payment is 75% of total rental cost and is due no less than two calendar months prior to rental start date. The security deposit is £50 for each full or partial rental week.
