Le Genevrier is a pretty farmhouse with a private pool, that had been modernised over the years. The original property with its two-foot thick walls is over two hundred years old. The accommodation is on two floors and is situated facing East/West and gets the sun all day long. It has a new 10m x 5m Private pool for exclusive use.

The property overlooks the River Dordogne with extensive views of the river and the surrounding countryside. The farmhouse is one side of a typical French grassed courtyard situation with a large 'L' shaped barn forming the other two sides. The fourth side is open overlooking the owner's two and a half acre field. The courtyard has a tree in the middle for shade, and has plenty of room for parking.

The property is just off a quiet road on the fringe and overlooking the village of Couze St Front, which sits astride the river. The village is an easy five-minute stroll away and you will find there all the shops to provide you with your day-to-day needs, butcher, baker, small supermarket etc. and also two nice restaurants.

The Property comprises:

• Large dining room with 8 seater oak dining table and matching furniture. Wood burning fire and large stone fireplace.
• Large Kitchen with exposed beams, full range of modern pine kitchen cupboards, large kitchen table with six chairs, gas hob and electric oven and fridge etc
• Bedroom 1 : Very spacious with two large windows with views, a 4'6" double bed, bedside cabinets/lamps and chairs, chest of drawers and large walk-in wardrobe. Supported by a newly refurbished nearby bathroom with bath/shower, WC and washbasin.
• Bedroom 2 : Large room with two large windows with views, 3ft twin beds, bedside table, wardrobe, chest of drawers and occasional furniture.
• Bedroom 3 : Access via open staircase in sunroom. A cozy double bedroom with exposed beams and wooden floor. There is a double bed, single bed and bedside cabinets. 
• Additionally if required there is a travel cot and fold away bed.
• Lounge with wooden staircase and floor, accessed via arched French doors. With a small fireplace, three piece cottage suite, and a TV & Hi Fi, FTA Satellite Channels, Play-Station, Books etc.
• There is a door to:
• Laundry room
• Second upper floor ensuite shower/bathroom

A folder containing information and leaflets about restaurants, market days, local festivals, places of interest, vineyards etc. will be available at the property.

About the location

The 'bastide' town of Lalinde is approximately two miles away and is bordered on one side by the Dordogne and on the other by a beautiful canal, which was built some 150 years ago, so that the wine barges could bypass the shallower parts of the river.

Lalinde is a small bustling town, which has a busy market every Thursday morning. There are also plenty of shops, bank, garage, post office etc.

Couze St Front is very central for visiting bastide towns and is an excellent touring base, being in the centre of famous vineyards to the West and equally famous beauty spots to the East.

To the West: some twelve miles away Bergerac stands proudly on the banks of the Dordogne. A beautiful town made prosperous by the wine and tobacco trade. The town has streets full of history, with nice shops and restaurants. Onwards towards Bordeaux you pass through countless vineyards with famous chateaux names and degustacion where you can stop and taste. The village of St Emillion is particularly worth a visit: this being approximately an hour and a half away by car.

To the East: there are many famous beauty spots all within easy reach in the car, the road following the river for much of the way. These include Beynac and Domme and many more fortified towns perched high up in the rocky cliffs. The famous caves at Les Eyzies and Lascaux and the historical towns of Sarlat and La Bugue, are all within an hours drive of Couze.

How to get here

The house is just 15 minutes away from Bergerac airport and 2 hours from Bordeaux .

You just follow the D660 from Bergerac in the direction of Lalinde. Most of the car hire companies operate from both airports. Alternatively if you are driving, the best port of entry is St Malo, and there are regular ferry trips from both Portsmouth and Plymouth.
