17th Century Farmhouse and Cottage with Jet Stream Pool

Les Chauvins has a large pool (70m²)  a well equipped games room, a music room, and a large Plancha for easy outdoor meals.

Les Chauvins is a handsome 17th Century Charentaise Farmhouse and Cottage (The Maison d'Amis ), set in one acre of well tended, established gardens, with lovely views over open countryside.

The five bedroom Farmhouse (320m²) and three bedroom Cottage (100m²) surround a pretty courtyard which is at the end of a country lane. To their west is the walled swimming-pool, beyond which are uninterrupted views of the valley.

The Farmhouse can be rented either on its own or together with the Cottage, both of which have been restored to a high standard, and are very comfortably furnished. See below for prices or click on " owner's website " at Contact details below for more photos.

The Pool

The swimming-pool is set within the walls of a former barn and is almost square (9m x 7.5m). It has a powerful jet- stream to swim against in the deep end, which can be switched on and off, and underwater lights. The pool is 90cm deep at the shallow end and 2m deep at the deep end, and is securely fenced off, with a gate. Inside the pool area there is a covered terrace with benches and poolside furniture, see photos on owners website. The pool is for the exclusive use of the Farmhouse and Maison d'Amis, a maximum of 16 people.

Holiday Accommodation at The Farmhouse

The Farmhouse has five bedrooms, three in one wing and two in the other, each wing having its own bathroom making it ideal for two families sharing. The property comprises:

• 3 Double Bedrooms
• 2 Twin Bedroom  
• 2 Bathrooms each with a bath & shower, washbasin and WC.
• The sitting room has a traditional stone fireplace, wood burning stove, oak beams and is comfortably furnished, with a T.V. Video, C.D. and D.V.D. player. it has a door out to the West side of the house.
• The dining room also has a stone fireplace with wood burning stove, and is furnished to seat ten comfortably.
• The fully fitted kitchen has a dishwasher and microwave. (The washing machine is in a separate laundry room on the ground floor).
• Separate shower room
• Separate WC.
• The games room is huge (11m x 6m) and has a table tennis table, pool table, games table, darts board, exercise bike and abs bench as well as a range of board games, and toys for younger children. There is a choice of about 100 videos.Outdoor equipment includes a badminton kit, boules, bikes, roller-blades, riding hats, tennis rackets, footballs, cricket kit etc. Golf clubs are available on request as is a Play Station 1 or 2.
• The music room is on the ground floor next to the games room and has an upright piano, a couple of basic acoustic classical guitars, an electric guitar with small amp and a selection of recorders and percussion instruments. There is also plenty of sheet music for beginners.

Outside

The Farmhouse has an East facing raised kitchen terrace, surrounded by a stone wall, with a plancha and barbecue,  table and chairs, and comfortable garden furniture. The terrace has lovely views and steps down to the attractive courtyard. At the West side of the house is a lawn looking down onto the pool area. To the North of the house is a much larger grassed area for football and outdoor games.

About Vaux Lavalette in Charente, Poitou Charentes

Les Chauvins is in the commune of Salles-Lavalette, a pretty little village with church, bar, restaurant and post office. Salles Lavalette is on the Dordogne / Charente border, 20 miles due south of Angouleme the capital of the Charente, and 50 miles north west of Perigueux the capital of the Dordogne. The medieval market town of Villebois Lavalette is 7 miles away, with doctor, dentist, bank, post office, butcher, supermarket and saturday morning market. Riberac with its popular Friday morning market is 15 miles to the south west, in the Dordogne.

Aubeterre, officially one of the prettiest villages in France is about 13 miles away, with its monolithic church, river beach, canoeing and many bars and restaurants. During the summer most of the local villages hold their summer fairs which often include fireworks, and car boot sales. Everyone is welcome.

The wine regions of Cognac, Bordeaux, St. Emilion and Bergerac, the Atlantic coast with La Palmyre Zoo and Futuroscope at Poitiers are all within two hours drive.
