La Cochère is a converted farmhouse in the small village of Salles de Villefagnan, less than 10 minutes south of the charming market town of Ruffec and approximately 20 minutes north of Angouleme airport, 50 minutes south of Poitiers airport.

Parking is within the gated courtyard.  The guests accommodation has its own separate entrance enabling you to come and go as you please.

Whether you are house hunting or just enjoying a well deserved break you will receive a very warm welcome in calm and relaxing surroundings. We have plenty of tourist information, and if you are house hunting give you any information or assistance you may require.

A delicious French style breakfast including cereal, pastries, a variety of breads, pastries, fruit, cheese and yoghurts is served in either the candleit dining room, or during the summer months in our beautiful garden, where you will also find our pool which you are welcome to use.

A delicious candle-lit supper  can be available for your first night of arrival by prior arrangement.

La Cochère has a 3 Star rating from Gites de France. Recommended in AA Guide Bed & Breakfast France. Selected by Alastair Sawday Special Places to Stay 2007.

All bedrooms are at ground floor level. The bedrooms are very comfortably furnished with crisp cotton bed linen and sumptious thick white towels. The rooms have tea and coffee making facilities, bottled mineral water, shower gel, soap and hairdryers.

Rooms are cleaned daily with tea/coffee/water replenished.

Smoking in the garden only please.

About the location

 Local attractions include the bustling market town of Ruffec with a good selection of shops. Visit the market on Wednesday and Saturday. There is also a good selection of Pineau, the local aperitif to sample.   La Rochelle and the coast approximately 2 hours.

How to get here

Salles de Villefagnan is approximately 20 minutes from Angouleme airport.  One hour away from Poitiers Airport. The ferry port of St. Malo takes about 5 hours.  Calais 7 hours.
