Home description

Tusson is a "Village protégé" (similar to National Trust) and thus full of history and maintained in a very attractive way. The village is located in the north of the Charente, between Poitiers and Angouleme, near Ruffec.

The apartment is in an old mansion house in the centre of the village. The apartment also has its own terrace with garden furniture, a communal garden and large swimming pool. The pool is open from mid-May until mid-September. Table tennis and other indoor games are available. Tennis is available in the village. Regretably the apartment is not suitable for children under the age of 5.

There are two museums, one celebrating life in the countryside and the other concerned with the history of Tusson's involvement with Margaret of Angouleme and her brother King Francis I. There is a Medieval Garden showing the medicinal plants used in the middle ages. There is a walk around the village with little gardens open to the public and there is a beautiful Abbey.

• Kitchen - galley style and fitted with an electric cooker, gas hob, fridge, washing machine, microwave and all the crockery necessary for a family of 4.
• Living/dining area - with a sofa bed and all the comforts of home.
• Double bedroom - with an en-suite shower room.

About the location

Throughout the summer there are many fetes and festivals in Tusson and the surrounding villages and the village has its own Tourist Office for more information.

Cognac is 45 minutes away and you can go for tours and tastings and it is a lovely town to wander in.

Other places to visit include Futuroscope at Poitiers and the fine beaches of Royan, La Rochelle and the Iles de Re and Oleran. The chateaux of Bordeaux are a little further but worth the trip.

The Roman town of Saintes, with its' amphitheatre and good shopping is also close.

Locally there are wine and cognac tasting opportunities and the famous drink of the Charente – Pineau.

For more local shopping there are several supermarkets in nearby towns along with banks, bars, restaurants and hairdressers.
