Visit pre-historic caves; explore the medieval history of the bastide towns surrounding the famous city of Cahors; enjoy sports galore and all the fun of the fêtes. Walk and bike in safety to your hearts content. Feast on the gastronomic delights and hearty wines of the Region - the Lot has more Michelin Stars per capita than any other Department in France.
 
Or just chill out and regain your equilibrium away from the hassles of urban life. We encourage you to make yourself at home near the picturesque village of Lherm. Walk the trail through our woods; watch Ian tend his small vineyard; hide away in the hammock with a good book; sip on a delicious glass of local wine; lounge and dine by our beautiful, private pool - surrounded by the scent of Suzie's lavender field - and sit under the clearest night sky in Europe listening to the Nightingales sing. La Chaumière de Lavande offers the delights of an environment where time has stopped at its best.
 

Holiday Accommodation at La Chaumière de Lavande

The cottage, La Chaumière de Lavande, is a lovingly converted barn belonging to the family home. It has a cosy atmosphere where extra care has been taken to add those little touches that help make your stay special. Cool in summer, centrally heated in winter, the cottage provides all the comforts that discerning guests may expect.

  • Living/Dining Room is a large room with beamed ceiling and traditional terracotta-tiled floor. There is a log-burning fire for spring/autumn chilly evenings, and comfortable sofa and chairs. The dining table seats 6 with crockery, cutlery, glasses, serving dishes etc more than adequate for 6.
  • The Kitchen Area is fully equipped with microwave oven, fridge, gas hob and oven, dishwasher and all the accoutrements needed to produce food fit for a king!
  • Additional WC also on the ground floor.
  • 3 Lovely Bedrooms individually decorated with attractive soft furnishings. The ground-floor double bedroom is self-contained and has an ensuite bathroom with shower, WC and hand-basin. On the first floor are the other double bedrooms (one twin) and a bathroom that has a bath, shower, WC and hand-basin.
  • Patio. The shaded grounds and flagstone terrace – with barbecue and garden furniture – look south towards the historic village of Lherm.
  • Swimming Pool. The 10x5 metre, heated swimming pool looks on to Suzie’s lavender field and is set between a picturesque pigeonnier and walnut grove where privacy and seclusion are guaranteed. The pigeonnier has been converted to house a WC, hand-basin and washing machine, on the ground floor, and a fully-equipped kitchenette on the first floor. You can virtually live in the pool area, which has table, chairs, umbrellas, loungers and its own built-in BBQ to encourage alfresco eating! It is very private, and guests have sole use of the pool.
  • Play Area. A grassed area - behind the pool and under the shade of an old walnut tree - has a swing, football net and badminton/volleyball net and there is a place to play boules.

About Lherm in Lot, Midi Pyrenees

Massarrat is a tiny hamlet (so we're not totally isolated), and we look out over views of undulating fields and woods. The cottage has a high wall enclosing the side of the garden next to the only lane that runs through Massarrat. A private lane takes you up to the pool complex, which is 50 yards from the cottage and hidden behind the pigeonnier

The nearest shopping can be found in Cazals (10mins) where there is a full range of shops, banks, post office and markets – in fact, everything you need for a complete holiday. Prayssac (15mins) and Cahors (30mins) offer a wider range of supermarkets and variety of shops to satisfy the most ardent of “retail therapists”! Cahors is also the capital town of the Lot Valley, and is rich in history, Roman and medieval remains, and well known for its famous bridge - Pont Valentré – and its wine and food.

These rates are per week from 4pm Saturday to 10am Saturday and include: electricity, water, gas and linen including sheets, pillowcases and towels – but please bring your own pool towels. We kindly ask for a 25% deposit to be paid to secure your booking.
 
This is a family-run business giving a personal service to up to 6 guests.

Your Hosts: Ian comes from New Zealand and is an ex-Leader of the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team – the Red Arrows. Suzie is half French and so is at home with the language. She is a ballet teacher and silk painter who has sold her work worldwide and runs silk-painting courses. Together, they tend and harvest the lavender from which Ian distils essential oil. They have taken great care to restore and convert their property to be in sympathy with its surroundings and preserve its distinctive Quercynoise character and charm. In doing this, they have gathered a wealth of information on the Region and offer to share their local knowledge and experience of life in the Lot.
