Havre Paisible - your home-away-from home nestling serenely in an unspoilt village in the very heart of rural Burgundy - was lovingly created specifically with the pleasure and comfort of our guests in mind.

Our spacious gite - Havre Paisible (French for peaceful haven) - is a traditional farmhouse which has been completely modernized and exceptionally well appointed to ensure a relaxing holiday, albeit without compromising the craft and talent of the local artisans who created the 17th century original. A comfortable drive (around 5 hours) from Calais, Havre Paisible gives you the opportunity to visit many parts of this varied region.

If you think that Burgundy is only for wine connoisseurs and lovers of architecture, come and be charmed by all the simple pleasures of the timeless French countryside and our beautiful village. Many of our guests comment that they feel transported to the France of bygone years, yet blessed with all modern amenities.

Relax by your private swimming pool and sip local Burgundy or Chablis wines on the terrace. Take a stroll in the fields which surround the village. Dine outside on your terrace and experience the starlit skies, savour total tranquility and listen to the sound of silence. Drive to a local cave for a degustation followed by lunch at one of the local restaurants. Catch up with your "other" world via the free Wi-Fi internet access. Or simply soak up the sun, read a book and do nothing for a change!

Our village - Gigny - is located between Chatillon-sur-Seine and Chablis in Northern Burgundy. Havre Paisible is the original farmhouse dating from the 1600s but remodeled with all modern conveniences including three bedrooms, three modern bathrooms, a washing machine and fully equipped country kitchen. The farmhouse is enclosed in a beautiful courtyard with a heated 5 x 9 meter swimming pool (open May - September). The garden is compact but designed specifically for relaxation and tranquility. Parents, if you have active children this may not be a suitable property for your holiday.

We have called Gigny home for over 5 years and live adjacent to the property. We have designed the gite so that you are assured of the same relaxing and private holiday even if we are present during your stay. We are here to help with any information you may need and to ensure that your stay is as perfect as possible. Our eight-year old Golden Retriever - Buddie - lives here with us and is very popular with our guests.

From the stone walkway enter:

Kitchen - fully equipped consisting of fridge, cooker, oven, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, electric kettle and washing machine.
Bathroom - is off of the kitchen is a (bath with shower and bidet)

Pass through an archway into:

Dining area - which seats 6 comfortably with its traditional Burgundy tile floors and beautiful original oak beams which give you a cozy and cottage-like atmosphere. French doors open onto the outside terrace overlooking the garden and swimming pool.

Continue through the dining area to:

Bedroom 1 - a modern ensuite room which sleeps 2 (double bed), complete with shower and WC.

First floor

Back to the dining area, follow the wooden staircase up to:

Sitting room – a cheerful, comfortable room overlooking the courtyard and swimming pool with comfortable seating for 6.
Bedroom 2 – is the only non-ensuite bedroom but is generous in size and includes a private sitting area.
Bedroom 3 – offers two single beds with a modern ensuite bathroom with bath and shower.
