Fleur de Lin is one of three luxurious cottages at Canlers. Only 1 hour from Calais in the "7 Vallées" region, noted for pretty wooded valleys and trout streams, Fleur de Lin provides superior comfort in a cottage converted from the stables of this former farm. Ideal base for house hunting in this area.

Also available with adjoining cottage, which sleeps 6/8 ideal for extended families.

Accommodation detail

The cottage is newly furnished and decorated in a light modern style with some interesting modern art originals and prints. Free Broadband WiFi is available.

Ground Floor

• Open plan living area - incorporating kitchen, dining area and comfortable salon with modern furniture and flexible accent lighting. The well-equipped kitchen incorporates oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, toaster, electric coffee maker and plenty of storage into a compact and well-lit space.
• Bathroom - with bath and shower, and a separate WC.

First floor

• Twin bedroom.
• Double bedroom - with extra bed. Both bedrooms have plenty of storage and hanging space for clothes and particularly well-planned lighting for reading, make-up, etc.

The cottage has efficient electric central heating and insulation to top modern standards, ideal for short breaks or week-ends in the winter months. Freeview English TV, a DVD player, a CD/cassette player and plenty of books and games, all of which contribute to guests' total comfort and relaxation.  A cot and high chair can be provided for families.

About the location

Local shopping facilities include the market towns of Fruges (3 minutes) and Hesdin (10 minutes). For more serious shoppers, St. Omer with its Auchan and Carrefour hypermarchés, stylish boutiques, art and furniture galleries is only 25 minutes drive. Antique lovers will find a treasure trove in Montreuil (25 minutes) including a weekly auction sale, while fashion junkies should make a bee-line for Le Touquet (45 minutes) with its branches of Paris boutiques, smart cocktail bars and casinos.

Conflict and war has left its mark on the region and historians will not want to miss the battlefields of Azincourt (3 minutes) and Crecy (30 minutes). Azincourt, where, in 1415, the army of Henry V won the most famous victory in English history, has a fine new museum dedicated to the battle. British visitors welcome!

Elsewhere, in particular close to Arras, Albert and Bapaume (about 1 hour), there are some moving WW1 battlefield monuments and cemeteries. An outing to the monuments and preserved trench lines at Beaumont Hamel, Vimy, Thiepval and Ypres are particularly recommended, especially if your visit is around the time of Armistice Day (November 11). Everywhere, historical sites and fine chateaux abound.
