A beautiful old normandy farmhouse in the countryside with a private pool at St Martin le Boulliant, just 10 minutes away from Villedieu les Poeles.

St Martin Farmhouse is a wonderful base for your family to explore and enjoy this part of Normandy. It has been completely redecorated and a new bathroom was installed in 2004. It is 1.15 hours from Caen and 1.45 hours from Cherbourg

Recently renovated, the house has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (1 ensuite). A brand new outdoor above ground swimming pool and new large farmhouse kitchen, equipped with all that you could need (washing machine/dish washer) and a beautiful woodburner in the lounge. 

This should be an ideal family holiday home, for babies/toddlers we  have a chicco happy snack high chair, travel cot and toys. And for older children we have toys (board games - jenga etc) some giant out door games (chess and snakes + ladders) and an old dance mat (but this has much comedy value for adults too!), there is a separate tv room for the litte 'uns.

The house is set in half an acre including garden, orchard and outbuildings. The grounds have provided endless hours of exploration and invention for children. The roses are in bloom throughout the summer and if you come at the right time of year there are peaches, cherries, walnuts, apples and pears to enjoy straight out of the garden.

The house comfortably accommodates 2 families and is well decorated and clean but also thoroughly robust and child friendly. There are a number of adaptors for UK plugs.

• Living room - has oak beams and a wood burning stove. It is easy to use and control and is rated at a maximum heat of 13 kW. There is plenty of wood, and, if you decide to stay at a cooler time of year, you will find that the stove keeps the whole house very toasty. (There are also oil filled electric radiators throughout the house.) It has 3 comfortable sofas, and a large coffee table which is an excellent venue for the games which are provided. The TV is for video and DVD use and there is a new Sony hifi which plays tapes and CDs (bring DVDs, videos, tapes or CDs with you).
• Kitchen 1 - consisting of a cooking area with gas hob, electric oven, sink and a dining area which seats 6. The kitchen is fully equipped with cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils along with a kettle, toaster, Krupps expresso/cappucino machine and cafetiere. It also has a portable stereo, which plays cds and mp3s. (the DVD player will also play mp3s).
• Kitchen 2 - beautiful farmhouse kitchen (oldest part of the house  c. 300 years old) fully equipped with a large farmhouse table, oven,  dish washer, microwave, washing machine etc  
• Playroom - situated between the kitchen and the living room - has a futon, TV, DVD, dance mat (well its quite old but good fun for adults too)
• Bathroom/wc - The bathroom downstairs comprises bath, seperate shower, wc and sink.

Upstairs

• Master Bedroom - with double bed  and ensuite (shower, sink and wc) 
• Family Bedroom - with double bed, French day bed. Stairs off this lead to the attic.
• Third bedroom - with bunkbeds - really intended for kids although the beds are full size so adults could sleep in them if desired.
• Fourth Bedroom - twin beds overlooking garden
• Bathroom - with shower, sink, wc and heated towel rail

Attic

• Fifth Bedroom - with a kingsize cast iron bed and also a travel cot which can be used if you are coming with a baby.

All the beds have duvets and pillows, and linen.  Although we would ask that you bring your own towels.

The futon bed in the playroom can also be used if necessary  - however this is an interconnecting room.

About the location

There is a good supermarket on the outskirts of Villedieu, and a village shop 3 km away in Cherences les Heron for baguettes and other essentials. Villedieu has everything that you could possibly want from a town and is very well set up for visitors. The owners particularly recommend the Bar Union opposite the town hall for good and reasonable priced food and for a welcoming attitude towards families. There are plenty of posher places to eat too. Villedieu has much to commend it and its tourist website (visit our website, and find it in the links page) contains all the information you need.

Within easy reach of the house are Mont St Michel, Avranches, Granville and Coutances. Further afield are the D-Day landing beaches to the north. Again, the Manche tourism site (link from our site) has plenty of information.

Alternatively, you can stock up at the hypermarche and never leave the house at all. The farmhouse itself is completely detached and one of only four houses on a tiny country lane which ends at a working farm. If you wish to completely get away from it all then La Trainiere is a perfect place to relax and allow the peace and tranquility of the rural landscape to wash over you.
