The property comprises the main section of a huge barn converted to provide the living areas, a courtyard garden on the ground floor and heated swimming pool at first floor level all contained within the barn walls to give complete seclusion and privacy. There are additional gardens/terraces around the property.

Outside

A short driveway leads from the country lane up to the front of the property and cars can be parked near the house. There is a grass and graveled area to the front providing a play area for children, table tennis, volley ball and swing.

Doorway through to the tiled Courtyard Garden with table, chairs, sun umbrella. French doors lead from here into the house and another door opens onto the back garden. At the back of the property is an enclosed rear garden with terrace, barbecue, table and chairs and grass area.

A flight of steps from here leads up through a doorway to the heated Swimming Pool and terrace at first floor level. The Terrace around the pool has sun beds, table, chairs & umbrella. The pool is 8m x 4m x 1.5m deep, it is surrounded by the barn walls to provide a lovely private sheltered location and open to the sky above, a quite unique setting. Gates on either side of the terrace can be closed to make the swimming pool fully secure for young children.

Fishing - 4 Hectare private fishing lake with carp (10kg+), zander & pike (5kg), perch and tench, located just 3km away

About the location

The property is situated in the tiny hamlet of "Lartimache" just 2.5 km from La Chapelle Montbrandeix on the borders of the Dordogne and Haute Vienne. Local shopping is at Cussac and St. Mathieu (a large leisure lake here). Lively markets are held each week at nearby Piegut and Nontron, both good towns for shopping. There is an excellent choice of local restaurants to suit every budget - "Chez Jules" at La Chapelle Montbrandeix is 5 minutes away and "Hostellerie St Jacques", a gourmet's feast, at St Saud Lacoussiere, just a 15 minute drive.

This is an unspoilt region of rolling wooded countryside interspersed with numerous rivers and lakes. This beautiful area has been designated a Regional Park - the Parc Regional de Perigord Limousin - you will find plenty of interesting information at the house and local Syndicat d'Initiative

The area is full of fascinating market towns - you can choose a different market practically every day to browse around. Interesting Chateaux and a range of cultural activities are nearby with the larger centres of Limoges, Perigueux and Angouleme all within an hour's drive. For a day out try wine tasting at one of the famous vineyards near Bordeaux, brandy at Cognac, exploring the Dordogne Valley or even a trip to the coast of the Charente Maritime.

How to get here

By ferry: Lartimache is an easy day's drive from the french ports.

CONSIDER A SHORT BREAK, we can  be flexible with dates if you can find that cheap flight

By plane: Limoges airport is just a 40 min drive.    Ryanair fly from all over the UK:  Stansted , Bournemouth , Bristol ), East Midlands , Edinburgh , Liverpool, Luton .   Flybe to Limoges from Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle and Southampton.   Alternatively, Angouleme - 1 hour (Ryanair), Bergerac - 1.5 hrs (Flybe and Ryanair) or Bordeaux (Easyjet) - 2 hrs.

By train: The high speed TGV travels from Angouleme to Lille or Paris for connections on Eurostar into St Pancras, alternatively the train from Limoges up to Paris/St Pancras.

Additional price information

All prices are per week.  Changeover day is normally Saturday and you are asked to arrive after 4.00 pm and depart by 10.00 am please.

Take advantage of Ryanair cheap flights from all over the UK to Limoges and book a short break at Lartimache - we can be flexible with dates and the rental is worked out on a pro rata nightly basis (min 3 nights).

Quilts and pillows (including pillow slips) are provided for each bed but you will need to bring linen, towels etc.  Linen/towels are available @ 12.50 euros per set / person (please book in advance of arrival).

• The rental price includes gas, water and electricity.   
• Logs are supplied for the open fireplace free of charge.    
• Central heating for the whole house is available but is charged at 15 euros per day.

A security deposit of £250 is payable on a separate cheque with the balance of rental.    You are asked to report or replace all breakages and to leave the property in a clean and tidy condition.   If you prefer,  the cleaning of the property can be arranged at the end of your stay for a charge of 50 euros.

Baby's cot and high chair are available and babysitting can be arranged

Well behaved dogs are accepted but must be kept downstairs and should not be allowed in the bedrooms.   There is a charge of 25 euros/week/dog.
