We offer two luxury homes, each with a private swimming pool, all within easy reach of fascinating towns, local markets, pretty villages, excellent restaurants, sports facilities, river and country pursuits. Both pools are fitted with ALARMS meeting French Government Standard NF P 90-307.

Les Marteilles is 1.5 acres of enclosed and tended gardens situated on a south-facing Dordogne hillside.  It  comprises a beautiful, large traditional villa built in 1992, "Juniperus," and a detached, romantic cottage  "Le Nichoir," both completely refurbished in 2003.

Both offer luxury accommodation, private tended gardens, separate parking and each with its own private swimming pool and every modern convenience. Views from both pools, terraces and gardens are truly delightful.

Close to the village of Bouteilles Saint-Sébastien, in the Verteillac/Ribérac area of the Dordogne, both properties are fully furnished and equipped to a very high standard, in attractive gardens with superb views over rolling hills and wooded valleys.

Junipérus, the upper half of this detached villa, has four bedrooms and three bathrooms and can accommodate up to 8 people in comfort. It is totally and fully equipped - a real 'home-from-home'.  The lower half, "Genevrier," will not be rented out during your stay.  It is used to store additional linen and towels and for occasional owner occupation.

The accommodation in Juniperus comprises:

• High-ceilinged dining room - with table and 8 chairs and other furniture, has a sliding wall of glass doors. This leads directly across a terrace to the private swimming pool and the lawned garden.  Neither are overlooked at all.
• Large, beamed lounge - has two wide sets of sliding double-glazed doors, one leading to the south-facing balcony and the other to a west-facing terrace. It is fully and comfortably furnished with two sofas and four comfortable chairs, coffee tables and a bookcase filled with books, CDs, videos, DVDs and games. A satellite television with English digital TV and radio programmes is provided.
• Well-equipped, modern, fitted kitchen - with an electric oven, ceramic 4-hobs, two refrigerators, a separate freezer, microwave, and dishwasher. There is plenty of storage space and work surfaces.   The owners always leave a supply of detergents, fabric conditioner, washing up liquid, cleaning products and cloths, tea-towels and hand towels, cling wrap and poly bags.
• Dining terrace with table - and chairs, shaded by a roll-out sunblind. There are several sun beds and parasols on the lawn beside this lovely pool, which looks out south over spectacular views. The terraces have planted and flowering tubs. The lawn is edged with mature flowering shrubs and trees. There is a concrete charcoal barbecue.
• Large master bedroom - with French windows to two balconies over wonderful views to the south and west. It includes a king-size bed, three mirrored wardrobes and a dressing table with beautiful furnishings and bedlinen.
• En suite bathroom - which comprises a shower, vanity unity washbasin, and w.c. It also houses the automatic washing machine/dryer. (There is a rotary washing line in the garden.)
• Second bedroom - with a double bed, wardrobe and dressing table, with a French window leading to the main balcony and an en-suite bathroom, with a bath/shower above, bidet, vanity unit/washbasin and w.c.
• Third bedroom - with twin beds, wardrobe and drawers. This bedroom can use the separate w.c. and washbasin by the front door. There is also room for a cot.
• There is a sturdy wooden spiral staircase down to the fourth bedroom that has twin beds, a wardrobe and a chest of drawers.  Possibly not suitable for children under 5 years old.
• Adjacent separate shower room -  with a vanity unit/washbasin and a separate w.c. This shower can be shared with the third bedroom.

Junipérus is fully equipped and well furnished throughout with good quality beds, sofas and linen, pretty curtains and blinds, rugs and pictures, and well decorated.

The pool, which is 8 x 4 x 1.4 m, is surrounded by terraces with planted tubs and flowering shrubs. Very young children will therefore need to be supervised but will appreciate the kiddies' paddling pool and garden play equipment. Older children have volleyball, petanque and badminton equipment.

There is parking space for two cars alongside the front door.  A cot with duvets, a high chair and a baby bath are available if required.

About the location

Les Marteilles is a beautifully peaceful location facing south amidst rolling countryside yet within 10 mins drive of several villages & towns, restaurants & bars, sports & leisure activities, chateaux, art galleries and museums.

Facilities exist nearby for tennis, golf, cycling, horse-riding, fishing, canoeing and karting.

The river Dronne forms a magnificent reservoir at Aubeterre (12 km) that offers a pleasant sandy beach with lifeguard supervision in the summer, a dam more than 40 metres wide with an impressive waterfall, fishing opportunities and beautiful gardens in which to stroll or just relax.

How to get here

• We are just 6 easy driving hours south of the Channel ports of St.Malo (340 miles), Cherboug, Caen and Le Havre, and about 500 miles (up to 9 hours) from Calais and the Tunnel.
• Our nearest airports are Angouleme (45 mins), Bergerac (60 mins), Bordeaux (100 mins), Poitiers (100 mins) and Limoges (up to 2 hours).
• The high speed train, TGV, from Paris & Lille (both served by Eurostar) stops at Angouleme, just 30 miles north.
