Chenine is a quiet hamlet, 2km from St. Bonnet Sur Gironde, where you will find "Les Acacias", a 250 year old Charentaise Longere Farmhouse. Surrounded by vines and rolling countryside and situated just a few kilometres from the Gironde Estuary, the Farmhouse is an old wine producer's property set in 1.4 acres of mature private gardens with a heated salt water swimming pool.

The house is equally divided into a two bedroom Gite and the owners home. Close to the market town of Mirambeau, the pretty fishing ports of the Gironde, the beaches of Royan and 1 hour from Bordeaux and 1.5 hours from La Rochelle, Les Acacias provides an ideal base for a relaxing holiday in the Charente Maritime.

Accommodation detail

Les Acacias can comfortably accommodate 5 to 7 people (7 with sofa bed in lounge on request). A cot/bed is available and included in the price for infants and toddlers. All bed linen, towels and pool towels are provided within the rental cost and are changed weekly. The cottage is fully double glazed and consists of:

• Lounge - large (6m x 6m) dual aspect with half glazed door to garden, fireplace with wood burning stove, patterned quarry tile floor, beamed ceiling, double sofa bed, 2 leather sofas and a large table & chairs. There is a 28" (70cm) flat widescreen TV, DVD with a selection of DVD's,  CD player and VCR with CD’s and videos and free view satellite TV.  A door leads to a corridor with tiled floor,  smoke alarm and through to:
• Bedroom one - 3m x 4m, has a double bed, wardrobe, bedside tables with lamps and a tiled floor.
• Bedroom two - also 3m x 4m, has one double bed and one single bed, a chest of drawers, wardrobe and tiled floor.

At the end of the corridor there is:

• Shower room and WC

And then another door leading into: 

• Kitchen - which measures 3m x 4m. The kitchen is equipped with table and chairs, gas/electric cooker, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave oven, toaster, coffee machine, kettle, iron & ironing board, and fire extinguisher. A high chair is available and inclusive in the price for infants as well as a feeding chair for babies. There is a patterned quarry tile floor and a large half glazed door to the garden.

The Garden

The exit through the lounge door (and kitchen door) is onto a terrace with original well, barbecue, table and chairs and access to the pool with use of sun loungers and various inflatible toys. The garden is surrounded by conifer hedging and is mainly laid to lawn with mature trees including peach, apple and cherry. 

The swimming pool measures 10m by 5m, being 1m at the shallow end and 2m at the deep end.  It is a salt water pool (much better for your skin and eyes) and is heated to a minimum of 27 degrees from May through to end September. The garden is secluded, south facing and very sunny.

There are a selection of bikes available to use on request.

Parking is available at the rear of the property with side access from the terrace.

About the location

Chenine is located about 10km west of the A10 motorway at Mirambeau (Exit 37) and gives easy access to the area. Beaches, fishing ports, walking and cycling trails, horse riding, vineyards, Cognac & Pineau producers, quaint villages with excellent and inexpensive dining and superb market towns are all within easy reach of Chenine.

This is Cognac country and travel just 10 km south into the Gironde department and you are in wine country (Cote de Blaye region of Bordeaux). Add to this the second best climate in France (apparently second only to the Riviera) and friendly locals and you have a recipe for an active or relaxing holiday.

How to get here

• By Car – Chenine is approximately 8 hours from Calais and 6 hours from Caen, Cherbourg and St. Malo.
• By Air – Bordeaux is 1 hours drive and is currently served by British Airways from Gatwick and Manchester and Flybe.com from Southampton, Birmingham & Mancester. Bergerac is 2 hours drive and served by Flybe.com from Southampton. La Rochelle is 1.5 hours drive and is served by Ryanair from Stanstead.

• Easter price £250 per week. 
• Christmas, New Year and Autumn/Winter half terms cost £250 per week. 
• Weekends and short stays are available at £30 per person, per night outside of peak holiday periods and subject to availability.
