Haut Toupian is a restored former monastery built on a sunny south-facing hillside, with commanding views over the local countryside of vineyards and lavender fields. Set in grounds of 1 hectare including an olive grove. It is a haven of peace and calm making it your perfect holiday retreat.

The property has two letting units attached to the owner's house and these share the gardens and swimming pool. The letting units may be rented individually or together depending on the size of your party. This may be of particular interest to groups of two or more families who wish to holiday together but retain some independence. The owner lives on-site all year and provides a very warm welcome. She is a professional caterer and can cook your meals if requested.

Nearby is the attractive town of Goudargues, "the Venice of the Gard" with its shops, restaurants and weekly market.

The first floor is accessed by a staircase from the kitchen and comprises:

About the location

The property is located 5km from the picturesque town of Goudargues, known as the Venice of the Gard, due to its canals and rivers which run throught the town centre. Goudargues canal is lined with restaurants and there is a weekly market on Wednesday. Canoes can be hired here for a day serenely paddling on the river Ceze. Close by, the waterfalls at La Roque sur Ceze offer the opportunity for river bathing in a breath-taking setting.

20km to the south is medieval Uzès. This town has a fascinating history and is entirely unspoilt with well-preserved, stone town houses surrounding a vibrant square. It offers an excellent range of shops and restaurants. Each Saturday, the town is filled by one of the best provençal markets in the area. Speciality markets, fairs and other events are held throughout the year including Music Festival (July), Fete Votive (August), Wine Fair (August), Truffle Fair (January).

Close by are the gorges of the Ardeche, Pont du Gard, Avignon, Nimes and Orange. A little further afield are beaches, the Camargue, Aigues Mortes, Montpellier and Marseille.
