Five Tastefully Renovated Gîtes with Pool.

Le Manoir de La Foye was formerly a Cognac distillery which was built in the 1820s, but has now been converted into this delightful complex. The Charentaise properties have been superbly renovated to a very high standard whilst retaining all of their original charm and atmosphere. Le Gite de Portail, La Ferme, Le Gîte du Puits, L'Ecurie and La Grange, are approached via a private driveway. Within the grounds are gardens with mature trees, a walnut orchard and a swimming pool. The stone Gîtes are designed to provide year-round comfort in a supremely peaceful hamlet, well off the beaten track.

Located in Charente-Maritime, the second sunniest region of France, Le Manoir de La Foye is in the rual hamlet of  La Foye de Vinax. It is within 10 minutes drive of Néré which has all the necessary amenities. The area is surrounded by vineyards, extensive fields of wheat and sunflowers as well as the magnificent Forest of Aulnay. The region is renowned for its Cognac, Pineau, seafood, especially oysters, cheese and friendly people. A gloriously tranquil, unspoilt setting, perfect for French country living and a relaxed, refreshing holiday.

The Grounds

  • Spacious gardens with magnificent trees offering plenty of shade and extensive views over open fields.
  • Ample car parking.
  • Each gîte has their own outside garden furniture with large umbrellas.  Gas barbecues are also available.
  • Full use of the swimming pool which overlooks a walnut orchard. The pool area has extensive terraces with sunloungers and is well located in a very secluded spot that benefits from sunshine all day long.
  • Laundry room fitted with washing machines, tumble dryer and outside drying lines.
  • Shared Summer kitchen with charcoal barbeque and communal seating.
  • Salle de Jour with a DVD, Video and book library.
  • A communal Table Tennis table.
  • Hot Tub (For use when the pool is not in commission)

With the option of full central heating these properties are perfect places to stay at any time of the year. Good quality bed linen and bathroom towels are provided. Guests are requested to supply their own pool/beach towels.

Holiday Accommodation at Le Gîte du Puits - Sleeps 2 + 2 (Sofa Bed)


Le Gîte du Puits is very homely and comfortable and has been recently renovated. The accommodation is conveniently arranged on the ground floor and comprises:

Ground Floor

  • Fully fitted kitchen/breakfast room with tiled floor, original exposed beams and antique wooden ceiling. The attractive but very practical layout includes a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, kettle and toaster, plus dining table & chairs.
  • Bathroom with Jacuzzi-type shower, wash hand basin and WC.
  • Bedroom with twin beds (can be made up as a King size bed), wardrobe, a set of drawers. The bedroom has one wall featuring pointed Charentaise stone.
  • Spacious lounge/bedroom with tiled floor features an illuminated ancient stone well (now sealed) with one wall pointed Charentaise stone, comfortable sofa bed with armchairs, coffee table and English satellite TV, DVD/VCR. A library of DVDs, videos and books is also available. Full-length French windows open out onto the patio.

Outside

A generous patio is located in front of the house with table, chairs and parasol.

About Vinax in Charente-Maritime, Poitou Charentes

The main towns in the region are: St. Jean D'Angély, Cognac, Saintes, La Rochelle, Niort, Chef Boutonne,  Angoulême and Poitiers (Futuroscope).

Le Gîte du Puits, La Ferme and La Grange are three of five gîtes at Le Manoir de La Foye. They are a few minutes drive from Néré with a Bistrot and Bar which is known for its excellent food and friendly atmosphere. There is also a boulangerie, butcher, chemist, bank and a Co-op.

Aulnay is only 15 minutes by car and has an Intermarché supermarket and a bustling town centre with bars, restaurants, banks a Tourist Information and a weekly market. Aulnay Church is a UNESCO-listed World Heritage Monument and is regarded as one of the top ten Romanesque churches in France. Just a short journey in any direction one finds quaint villages and and towns that support shops, markets, and restaurants. The Atlantic beaches and La Rochelle, Royan and Rochefort are just over an hours drive away.

How To Get To Vinax in Charente-Maritime, South West France

The Gîtes at Le Manoir de La Foye are within easy reach of the A10 autoroute (junction 33 & 34) giving full access to the Channel ports.

St Malo is only just over 4 hours drive and just over an hour from La Rochelle (airport) Poitiers (aiport, TGV) and Angouleme (Airport TGV).
